Hola and welcome IdleRumour

I will try to answer some of your questions ;)
In my case after the sponsorship was approved on July 30 it took 11 days for me (the principal applicant) to hear from Mexico´s Visa office, on August 10 I received and email from them and about a week later I got the same letter plus Federal police request letter into my mailing address. Does your hubby gave an email addres where he could also be reached at or only the mailing address? Now that the application is In Mexico visa office all mail and information will be sent to principal applicant (your husband).
When I received the email the letter mentioned this: The original of this letter containing file number labels is being sent to you by mail today. If after 60 days, you have not received it, please contact our office at mexico-imenquiry@international.gc.ca or by fax to number 5724 7983 in Mexico City. Please enter
your file number, your complete name, date of birth as well as your telephone or fax
number or your e-mail address. Our office will send you a copy
. You might still not have the file number which starts with a Bxxxxxx, but you or your husband could try to contact them again this way.

About the interviews...seems like not everyone its call for an interview, I really hope not to be call either, i can get very very nervous even if there´s nothing I should be afraid of. I think interviews can be in spanish too but still the whole idea of being interviewed makes me nervous.

Another thing..your husband might have to go to Mexico city anyways for the Federal Police letter and fingerprints since this has to be done in person unless he lives abroad. I just went to get mine and eventhough its fast it is a pain to have to go there. Its 1 day to drop all documents and get fingerprints taken and then you need to wait at least 5 days to get the letter. I suggest him to have ready all the documents he will need to present to the PGR in Mexico.

All the best luck,
keep us posted! ;)

Thanks Gal,

I emailed three times to them to make sure that they have the correct address for Miguel because he moved at an inconvenient time, after the first time saying his file wasn't opened they emailed me again with a form letter basically saying nothing. That they will contact us blah blah, now I do acknowledge that my husband's case isn't the most ideal one and there are some minor complications, but we did include an email address and he's been checking the mail and there has been nothing. Aug 3rd til now and not a word except they are busy and to wait for them to contact us...

The worst part is that Miguel sent on some very important documents to supplement his file, as registered mail, and because they have been somewhat slow and strange, I don't know if those papers were received because they still haven't acknowledged even having his file there.

All I wanted was to make sure they have the right address but instead seems they think I was harassing them about the status of his file and I'm stuck waiting, the worst part is it seems until he GETS that letter they don't consider his file received so it's just longer, I have not seen my husband since May 7 and submitted the file to Mississauga May 25 and as far as we've been informed his file hasn't been officially opened yet in Mexico City...

I'm scared to email them again in case they get vindictive and just take even longer!!! And I don't even want to tell Miguel he might have to go to Mexico City, he's convinced it's horribly dangerous and he lives in Chetumal so it's a VERY long way...

Hi IdleRumour, I feel for you... I understand how stressful might be not knowing what´s going on with the application and all the waiting, plus not seeing your husband; I havent seen mine since February :(

I was wondering what does E-cas shows as status? Have you checked that?? Is it possible that the application is in process but they just havent let him know? I´ve read that happening to other people.
I guess you might have tried it all already.

Well, I think you should wait a little bit before contacting them again at least a week (specially since this week there´s like a HUGE long weekend starting on wednesday)

About going to Mexico city, yes I was scared of going too but its not that bad. I guess its good taking it one stap at a time, first focus on having the application officially open in Mexico and then deal with the next step (going to Mexico city).

Stay positive!!

Well I got to hear Tropical Storm Karl yesterday, pretty much straight over my husband's town lol, but they're ok, the Guava and Banana tree not so much.

I haven't gotten much further in finding out if there is simply more complications to the whole application thing, and maybe that's why while your application was forwarded only four days before my husband's, he hasn't heard a word from the office yet and you have, or if they simply lost the damn thing. I talked to the call center here with CIC regarding the situation, and how they sent me a form letter that didn't clear up anything, and basically they told me that the visa offices abroad aren't under the immigration jurisdiction, when I called the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they told me that it falls under Immigration. If time continues to go on and on and we still don't hear a word from the Visa office, I do not have the first clue who to contact about what happened to Miguel's application. Our theme song has become "Abrazame Muy Fuerte" which besides the obvious might be my favourite love song now...so beautiful.

I don't want to know the "status" of Miguel's application, I just wanted to know they HAVE it, because the 15 working days obviously isn't counting or they lost it, sent it the wrong place or something...I'm going to copy and paste the letter they sent me, and as you will see it's pointless, it almost implies that I need to apply in Canada to sponsor, even though I KNOW the sponsorship has been approved.

Dear applicant,

Applications for permanent residence for spouses, conjugal partners and common-law partners are initiated in Canada .

The sponsor (you) must first submit the sponsorship to the Citizenship and Immigration Case Processing Centre in Mississauga , Ontario , Canada .

The file is then sent to this office for processing.

Further information regarding spousal sponsorships can be found at this Web site:

Please note that if a file is being treated within the processing time frames cited on our Web site we will not respond to enquiries regarding the status of the application.

Please understand that our office cannot provide you with an update of case status by email on a regular basis, but rest assured that we will contact you for the next stage of the processing of your file.

In order to serve all clients better, we will be unable to answer further correspondence at this time.

For future reference, in all correspondence to our office, please refer to the applicant's full name, date of birth and file number and make sure to include a complete mailing address.

Best regards,

Visa and Immigration Section (Ama)
Canadian Embassy, Mexico
Shiller 529, Col. Bosque de Chapultepec

Oh.. yeah.. don't expect great answers from that embassy unless your case is already processing! I wrote them twice to find out which documents I needed to send and how (legalized? apostillado? signed by a notary?) as the Regional Guide did not say which docs to submit if you're a naturalized Mexican...
So they finally answered me, sending me the same Regional Guide... which did NOT have my answer!
I guess the best is to just wait for an answer from them... :(

Dear IdleRumour...another thing I was thinking you could do is to contact your local MP, how exaclty I dont know but I´ve read here of many cases and people that have asked their MP´s to contact Immigration Office to find out about their applications and that has helped them.

Also maybe you could start a new topic in the forum with your situation and see what other people suggests ;)

best of luck

PS. Good to hear your husband is ok after tropical storm
