Spouse's file has been 'in process' at VO Mexico since June 2014.

Visa Officer actually called my spouse today and requested new medical documentation because -get this- the original we filed with her application expired.

The documents that were VALID until Jan 2015 when received by the VO in June 2014... sat there and expired in their possession!

We are now forced to redo the exam at our expense >_<

You have to wonder how they organize the applications for that to happen. That really sucks! Good luck!

Anybody from Mexico who applied outland last August/September had any update on their application? We got SA on November 24 2014. I was just wondering more or less how long they are taking to process after the file transfer. Any advice?

it could be a whole lot worse. Believe me. I had to deal with them and it wasn't pretty !!!!!!!!!!!

I applied originally March 28 and got AOR from Mexico June 10th, they contacted me for an interview January 22. I expect if they wouldn't have wanted an interview it would have been a couple more months before we had heard anything. 7-9 months would be pretty normal I think.

How long after the email stating that a police certificate (PGR) was needed and that "an official signed letter is being sent via e-mail today" did you actually receive said official letter?

I got the request on 1/28, but still haven't received the letter for PGR... Is this normal? Should I wait 10 days before sending a prepaid airway bill? Waiting 30 days is way out of my comfort zone ;D

I'm confused now. I also need to send a police check (I'm not a Mexican national but lived in DF for a few years). What's the process here? The CIC website is contradictory, as it says 'do not send payment along with the fingerprints etc' and then a few paragraphs later it says that fees apply to this service. I've emailed the embassy and they haven't replied. So:

- Do I need to pay to apply for the police certificate?
- Do I need to send them a prepaid envelope so they can forward it to me in Canada?

I thought the embassy was in charge of directly forwarding the results to the relevant visa office. Is this correct?

Hi fabibeach.

It looks like tricia-chile copied her name down over the names of other applicants. Those other applicants would have to go into the spreadsheet and update their names. The affected applicants were for applications submitted between Jan 1, 2013 and Sept. 30, 2014. Hopefully these people will update the spreadsheet.

I just entered my information in the spreadsheet. It seems to work ok after I copied down the formulas in the appropriate columns for the calculations. I added the link to my signature line if you want quick access to it.

That's really strange. I'm just now checking the forum for the first time in a few months, I don't know how my information was copied 16 times, but I've now been deleted from the spreadsheet completely..

We received SA in early December but haven't been contacted by the Mexico Visa office at all. We should receive AOR from them, correct? Will they only contact us if they need more info? I'm feeling a little lost about where to go from here.

The instructions at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/outside-mexico.asp are correct for people who do not reside in Mexico. The Embassy of Canada in Mexico will process the PGR background check for you.

As soon as you have a file number assigned (usually with SA), send a letter with the info they ask for (name, DOB, visa office processing file, file number, confirmation you live abroad, etc) plus fingerprints, photographs, and copy of your passport bio page to the Embassy address in the link requesting the PGR background check.

You do not need to submit payment with the request (since you submit your own fingerprints and the PGR isn't providing that service) but be prepared to wait a bit longer than the 10 days it takes if you are in Mexico (hence my suggestion to proactively send the request in as soon as you have a file number).

You do not need to submit a pre-paid waybill; the Embassy of Canada in Mexico will input the results directly into your file.

Only the applicants (over 18 years old) need to submit background checks. Sponsors don't need to submit them unless specifically requested.

My wife is Mexican and so the embassy sent us a letter requesting her to get the record check. But I just read in this thread somebody talking about fingerprints and I wasn't sure if she needed those too. In the letter it didn't mention anything about fingerprints.
