Hopefully you'll get it soon, but you're still under the posted wait time of 16 months. Hopefully won't take another 4 months. Have you requested GCMS notes to see where they're at with your file? That might help you with the timeline.

I didn't request the notes yet, I deal with my local MP who did tell me that they have determined our relationship was legitimate, they have accepted the police records and medicals but are still waiting for the security/background check which they have begun on February 27th. I don't know how long that usually takes... Not too long I hope

Hi Friends of this Forum,

CIC requested the passpoart and my My wife sent her passport on March 14th and was received on March 15 at the embassy in Mexico. We sent the DHL prepaid airway letter. Is it normal that we still have not been able to track anything? It has been almost 3 weeks now..

Should this last more?

Lhernandez

they told me it will come put mine in on march 18th still waiting..

Just wondering.... Is there a spreadsheet for all Mexico processing centre applications?

My application never got to Mexico City! I got an email telling me that the CPC- Ottawa was going to handle my process because I am an American living in Canada and I don't have legal status in Mexico But I sent my mexican birth certificate with my application I don't have a Mexican passport because I became a Mexican as an adult thru my parents which are both Mexicans! I don't think these people even go thru the whole package so is the CPC faster or should I get my mexican passport send it to them and ask or my case to go to Mexico .
I applied October 3 2013 and got the ok for sponsorship on. October 24 and in my file says that my medical exams have been received (November) Help! No sean malos porfavor contesten necesito saber si Ottawa es mas rapido o pido que manden mis papeles a Mexico. Gracias por leer

HI Thanks for answering my question, It seems that everybody has been delayed with the passport delivery. Just curious, why will your visa expire this April 4th?

Thanks.

Hi NZK0, it´s seems we are in similar situations and have similar timelines. Our wait time at this point is 13 months. I was requested an FBI certificate back at the end of October 2013, and I wasn´t able to send that in until January 16 2014. Then our MP made a follow up enquiry on the 31st and was told that they were verifying backgroung, I also contacted the embassy directly on Feb 21 and was told again that they were doing backgroung checks. No news since and we´re two weeks short of three months since I sent my FBI certificate. MY ECAS shows in process and medical results received since November of last year, so I thought I was near the end, but the background check seems to be taking a long time. I lived in the U.S. as a child and in Canada for 5 years before appyling outland, and am wondering if that´s why it´s taking longer. We want to order our GCMS notes and try to find out why we´re still waiting.

Hi, it was mentioned in the letter " Your visa will expire on 04/04/2014. If the validity of your passport or the passport of any accompanying family member expires before this date, your visa will expire at this earlier date. If it is the case, that person may wish to apply for a new passport"

It was posted in another thread that those background checks can take up to 5 months long BUT they are usually the last step before the PPR.

If your visa will expire April 04 you should really email them and ask for it back or tell them you already have your flight book and you need it before that !

Don't worry. CIC must have decided CPC-O can better assess your application since you are an American citizen (which CPC-O handles) and you are living in Canada (CPC-O also handles applications for people admitted to live in Canada for at least a year). It also sounds like you don't have many ties to Mexico (became Mexican as an adult through your parents, no passport) so CPC-O is indeed better equipped to process your application.

You can join http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/us-outland-applicants-thread-t106068.2535.html and http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/cppottawa-t118769.4815.html. Based on reports there, Ottawa is taking ~8 months.

Good luck!

Hi,

We decided it is time to get the process started... I have so many questions so please bear with me. I met my partner a year and a half ago. we have kept in touch since then and I have been back three times to visit him in Mexico. We plan to get married and start our life together. I have met his family and my sad Spanish has gotten much better lol. But anyway I will be as specific as possible with my questions. I think we need to apply as a visitor as we have not lived together and are not yet married. My questions are:

1) how hard is it to get a visitors visa for a Mexican citizen?
2) Can he come here so that we can be married? Is that a reason for a visa?
3) how long does it take to get an answer

Thanks for any advice tips etc... I welcome anything even more questions

4) what's the process? First steps?

4) what's the process? First steps?

#1 - It all depends on his specific circumstances. He will have to proove strong ties to Mexico in order to get approved.
#2 - I think something like that would work against him. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but having a Canadian girlfriend already shows ties to Canada and in their minds increases the liklihood that he'll overstay his visa. I don't know that they'll believe that he'll go back to Mexico if you state your intent to marry in the application.
#3 - Visitors visas are usually pretty quick to process. About 3 weeks.
#4 - First step would be to go to immigration canada website to find all of the forms and read the instruction guide that will tell you all of the papers you need to provide to apply.

Just so you know, this section of the forum is for people applying for perminant residency, there is a whole section for visitors visas and the people over there would probably have more experience with it. We can still help you over here, but I just thought you should know.

Do we need to submit appendix A checklist or just the IMM 5491 checklist.

Also does it look bad if I use liquid paper to fix one of the questions? ;D
