Thanks, LeisaP!

Also, do they send the PPR via email? Or should I send a waybill for that, too? Or just for the return of the passport?

They will send everything through email except the PGR request letter, and the passport with visa in it, if you mail it to them at the end instead of going in person to get it stamped
:)

I noticed something on CBC news today about how the strikes are rotating/staggered. Basically they do some locations, then switch to others. This could explain why we were getting inconsistent responses about whether or not the visa office at Mexico City is on strike.

Hello everyone!

So last week I want to get my PGR cert (In Mex City) and should be done next wednesday. Then I will send it to the embassy. I havent got anything else yet. But this is good news for sure!.

:)

Another day of waiting and waiting. I wonder when we will get some good news..........

Good luck everyone!

I am just so freakin pissed of that anywhere you read about the strike they constantly mention how the poor students are missing out on school and the tourists cant visit canada. Not one new article ever mentions family reunification. All the care about is the money the students and tourists bring to Canada. What kind of bulls**t is that.

I agree, it never mentions anything about the families who are stuck apart because of the strike!
its frustrating, I agree. I think the families are getting hit a lot harder than the poor rich students who cant come to Canada and "study" / party . :-\

Yeah and what pissed me off even more is that i read in another thread that when some guy went to the mexican embassy recently they told him cause of the strike theyre putting off fam applications cause students and tourists need theirs processed asap. I cant believe this. I woyld ask them what they would process first if theyre family was torn apart by the immigration system. Then they would be working overtime to process their fam applications asap. Since they dont understand our pain they dont give a s**t. Its so sad. Especially for the poor little children who are getting affected by this

take it easy, step by step.

think about it this way. the new semester will be starting on Sept 2nd (well, the tuesday after that). even if in a day they process 10 student applications and 1 family one, very soon student applications will be reduced considerably (at least until Term 2 of the winter semester begins in January 2014). it's just a matter of time before they place family applications back on track, simply because there won't be any other of these "high priority" applications (notice the quotations between high priority please). let's be honest here, not many tourists from Mexico want to go visit Canada in Sept-Nov and students will already be in classes by then.

although i don't want to believe the strike could take another month, things are looking... well.. weird. PAFSO filed its bad-faith bargaining complaint, which means they could drag the hearing into the fall session of Parliament... but we just found out that that Prime Minister Harper is planning on proroguing Parliament until October! i still believe negotiation is viable because the only other effective alternative i see is to hope for a sweeping back-to-work legislation, which the Prime Minister is very fond of whenever things get out of hand for his gov't (Canada Post strike, anyone? form back in 2011? he killed that one in less than 20 days).

(on a different note, does anyone know if PR cards do take the full 2 months to arrive by mail?)

About the PR Card, a few friends of mine are receiving it in an average of 3 months or so.

Hi everyone :D

I know it's hard being here waiting, the worse part of it is see how this strike is making everything taking more time, as it was not long enough before :(. I'm just starting here, well we got our SA this week, but of course now we have to face this strike thing.

When I knew what happened, after month and months of working hard so we can submit our app and be together as soon as we can (well hoping our processing time to be faster than those horrible 13 months), I cried, it just broke my heart, because know those 13 month could be longer, with all the things involved as redo medicals and the waste of money it brings with it.

This year I saw my husband in January and I'll see him again in December, which it's great but at the same time it sucks because I want to be with him all the time, but we can't because he has to work and they would not give me a visitor visa :'( :'( :'(

I hope you guys that are almost finishing get good news soon, and get over with this awful process, hold on, when everything gets normal you would be with your beloved ones soon.
