Question:

I met my girlfriend in Mexico and we are having a serious long-distance relationship. She has been in Mexico for many years, but is an illegal immigrant from a central american country. We are thinking of getting married in the future.

Q1) Would it be better for her to go back to her native country and us get married there, and doing the application in that country?

Q2) Or would it be better for us to get married in Mexico(not sure if possible) and try to do the application from Mexico, even though she probably should be deported?

Q3) Some people have said that having a baby in Mexico will may make it easier for her to get her Mexican papers. Any one know?

thanks

It would probably be easier if she didn't have any deportations or overstaying on her record. She would need to prove her residency in Mexico for the application, so if she doesn't have any documents saying she has legal residency she would need to move back to her home country for the application anyway, unless she has some family in her home country that you could trust to receive all of the mailings and pretend that is her home address. This all being said, it is not a very good idea to lie to CIC.

That's good news! For us it took about a month and a half from the time we sent in the last documents CIC requested until my husband got his PPR. So hopefully the same happens to you!

My husband has never lived in Canada, or been in Canada for that matter, so CIC did not request an ARC. But i do believe that that is one of the last steps for those needing an ARC right? Either way I hope you hear something soon!

Yes, on twitter. Check Clement´s account or Pafso´s account. Actually, PAFSO only got back to him once, the other twits are between Clement and regular people who question him about the government´s actions on this matter.

Tweets, not twits. :)

Hi everyone, I hope the strike is really over, I think cause of that processing time in Mexico VO changed from 13 to 14 months, It just suck, instead of time getting better is getting worst.

Anyway good luck to everyone that is almost finishing. I'm just starting here and I just want the first stage to be over :o
