Hi bttmntl,

Thanks for your responce it is helpful. I have heard of situations where people do not receive an acknowledgement recipet. I wonder if I should be sending a case specific inquiry?

Also when we submitted our application we sent in the SSP and what I think was the PGR. I know you are supposed to wait for the request letter but we thought we would take a chance and submit them knowing it was possible they may not be accepted and we would have to do them again. Do you think this could cause a problem.

Also please keep me posted on your progress it looks like we will have similar timelines.

You're welcome, mrscruz. It's nice to be going through this with someone else! As the process seems to change somewhat from time to time, it will be good to compare notes.

Did you get your PGR from Mexico City? I was under the impression you can't get that without the Embassy letter. I believe there are local PGR or SSP offices that can give you a certificate but it's not the right one - you need the federal one from Mexico City.

Here's an idea for the enquiry... you want to use this communication method sparingly because they get irritated if they receive too much email and it can also cause delays.

Get your prepaid shipping label online at FedEx or DHL. Save the image and include it as a file attachment to your enquiry. (Enquiries are done through an electronic form. The web address is in your sponsor approval letter.) In the message field, ask if they can confirm that they received your application which was forward to them by Citizenship and Immigration on [DATE]. Also explain what the shipping label is for (PGR certificate request letter.)

Does someone know if it afects that I was working illegally in the usa, And can I get married in the us or should i go to mexico.

You can get married in the US and no it won't affect your Canadian application if you worked illegally in the US. You will have to get FBI clearance though.

I sure hope so, Dazz. Our file went "In Process" on January 17 and to this day we haven't received any other news. Following another thread i'm hoping that in two-months time we'll receive some news, don't ask me how I know that, it's just a hunch. So we'll continue patiently waiting...

yes but 2 or 3 people that sent in their police report in early december received the ppr in first week of january! i hope sooner than 2 months!

Seems like the processing times vary for each step... I hope it goes fast for you too.

good luck to you as well!

Landed 6 Feb 2013. 8) I recommend you give yourself a little more than 1:40 if you have a connection after landing with a wife, kid and dog! We made it but barely and it was very stressful.

Congrats on surviving the chaos! We had a toddler and a cat - no connection though but it was pretty stressful. Landing itself was easy, it's all the luggage, the 3 hour drive to the airport, staying in an airport hotel - with a cat! LOL! Totally worth it but glad that is all over.

Hi all,

It's been three and a half months since our file was transferred and still no AOR from VO. My wife and I are currently in Mexico City for a short visit. Should we go to the embassy and provide the prepaid waybill for PGR in an attempt to get some sort of update/response from VO? We are really freaked out because now we cannot even check Ecas, it stopped working for us about a week ago :(

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hi!

I was wondering if anyone has experience with their spouse living in Canada before and being denied their refugee status and then applying for spousal ??

We were married 17 days before he went back to Mexico because his refugee status was denied when we were dating.

I am wondering if our process is going to take longer, if we will need ARC, or any other information.

We applied October 1 and the first part of the process was approved October 30. Now we are waiting for the second part to start processing.

We were on the same boat.. My common-law partner stayed here in canada but his refugeeclaim were not granted. We cannot get marrried coz his application for
Divorce was still in process before. Before he went back to Mexico, we applied for a spousal sponsorship, did all his medical exams here and rcmp.

Immigration recvd my sponsorship last july 26,2012. They started processing their application oct 11. But last week, i've check my status but i cannot see it anymore. Ive check his status n it didnt say anything about the sponsorship, only the claim that he had bfore.

I called immigration asking why i cannot check my status n they say its still in process. I have no idea if it has been sent to VO or still here in Mississauga
