Huron, why were you required to land the next day after PPR? Were your medicals running out or your passport expiring? How does that work?

All I can say, is WOW. And welcome to winter ;-) I'm not on the thread as often as I used to be (acceptance of a long wait I guess). But check back here once in awhile to make sure I'm alive, kay? Big congrats.

Lady Romero, it's good to hear you are still alive. We're all pulling for you and the Mister, you bet.

i just got an email asking for the police certificates!!! I am so excited. I am confused now about the translations. Just a few months ago on the embassy website they had information that stated that documents written in english, french of spanish did not need to be translated. I cannot find that info anymore, they changed the whole thing. I asked a month ago about the translation(i sent an email) and they answer saying that if a translation was needed they would request it. What should i do? I do not want to spend money on a translation if it is not absolutely needed. Also, my medical examintation will expire on february the first and they did not request new ones. Should i just send them? oh, i almost forgot, someone was saying about the process for the medicals being different now. Does anyboby know anything? Thanks a lot.

I applied in Dec. 2010, sent the police checks to the embassy in February; I had no translations done except for a personal letter from me mum.

Thanks NAFTA. We're hanging in there. Nice to see you around the forum again!

Anyone who applied Common-law and submitted their application, how many statutory declarations from family and friends did you include? I have been told the minimum is two but just want to double check.

thanks.

Can I ask, how many of you used an immigration lawyer? There are all these questions about police check etc, I am hoping when it comes time, hopefully soon, that the immigration lawyer will advise my daughter and her husband what to do. Nov 16th the sponsorship was approved, now we are waiting on the Permanent residence through Mexico City to come through. Hoping its not much longer....

We didn't, I just learned how to do if from this forum, I think as long as your case is straight forward there is no need but the process can be a little overwhelming.

I started to read two months in advance and I have asked a lot of questions.

Islenio is a pro.
He's just being modest

so Islenio, you sent it in in August of 2011, and already got your Visa?!! My daughter and son in law sent their's in mid September, via through their lawyer, and like I said the sponsorship was approved in November....everything was sent in at once, medicals etc.....just waiting on the final ok, the PR...

We haven't received the visa yet, we just sent our passport Tuesday, based on the last person that sent her passport (Yaz) it should not take more that two weeks (Fingers crossed) ::)

But in your case once you get Sponsor approval the next steps are :
1.- Acknowledgment of receipt (AOR) from the Embassy
2.- Federal Police check Request (Constancia)
3.- Interview if necessary
4.- Passport request (PPR)
5.- PR Visa

Thanks so much for the info! I just looked again, she received her unique client number mid November from CIC, and online says that Perm. Residence App received. All communication goes from the embassy to the lawyer to us...but if we email the lawyer with any question, cha-ching, you get a bill!!!

Thanks for the info Nessa! Do you by any chance know how long after you send in the application they receive it (from your personal experience)

Thanks!

We sent it in with the original application to Mississauga...sent it on Nov. 26th 2011 and it was received on Dec. 6 2011. Got an email from CIC last thurday saying that they received it. So hopefully in a few weeks or so we will get sponsorship approval.

Thanks for the info, hopefully you receive sponsorship approval soon :D

Can someone please post how the constancia request in the email look like?

If an interview is not necessary, do they let you know with a letter or do they just proceed straight to the passport request :)
