I am sure no one is around from when I was getting my husband's permanent residency but I just had to post a message because I cannot believe we are starting to get his citizenship application together! He landed FOUR YEARS AGO next month and time has flown by. We lived in Ontario for a year, then moved to BC where we had a second child, and we are absolutely thriving. We love BC so much and are so grateful to be in Canada. It was very stressful getting the PR, landing, adjusting and getting my hubby a job, but it was so worth it. We are so happy! =) Best wishes to all of you waiting for your applications to process!

Hello to all, just to let you know I landed safely, I want to thanks all those who replied to my enquiries during the process and wish luck and speedy one to those still waiting. Best wishes to all and may be united soon with your loves ones.. :)

PS: My landing in Quebec was long and slow. I waited about 2 hours in the immigration office, few people working and a lot of people coming. By the other hand they were very nice and gave me a warm welcome I wasnt expecting.

Hi,

Thanks Canzanillo! We do have a lot of photos etc but one thing I noticed we have a lot of photos of the two of us but not us with our families. Hindsight being what it is ...I wish we had taken more but nonetheless. I have one more question...

If we apply for conjugal in the beginning and then get married after the divorce goes through can we switch to married???

Thanks.

I don't think you can change the type of application that you submitted - you would have to withdraw and resubmit, but, you can certainly send in all the wedding photos, invitations, marriage certificate, etc as additional evidence as it would significantly improve the strength of your original application. If I were you I would work to conclude the divorce matter in Mexico asap and proceed with marriage plans assuming that is the right thing for you both. Much easier to get married in Canada though that may preclude having Mexican family attending.

Other than changing processing time from 17 months to 16 months for Mexico, Mexico visa office seem to be taking lots of time processing applications. Most of the south american countries, have processing time lower than mexico or for that matter of fact, most countries...
My wife is getting desperate as every day passes. I am hoping Mexico VO to speed up processing all apps.

I am still waiting for sponsorship approval, today i crossed 56 days, so hopefully should come through in next few days, followed by file transfer to Mexico. Hoping to unite with my wife on or before end of this year, putting full stop to 5 and a half years of long distance relationship.

Hey All, just wondering if I can get some feedback. We applied last year in August and are hoping to get the PPR soon. Here is what our online status page looks like:

We received your application for permanent residence on August 11, 2015.
We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on February 8, 2016.
We started processing your application on October 13, 2015.
Medical results have been received.

In early May we had a request for fingerprints, photos, and the final PR fees. This was related to the police background check for Mexico. Is this what everyone considers the PGR? Or are there other official documents that they will request eventually? Since then we haven't actually heard anything. Just still waiting! Do you guys think we can expect to have the PPR soon? Our application was very straightforward according to our lawyer. No red flags at all. Now that we've been waiting so long since the request it has me worrying a bit though. Any feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks!

You do not "change" queues but you have to let CIC know of all changes in your maritial status as soon as possible. They will move your application accordingly and will request more documentation if required.

Keep CIC updated as soon as you have any relevant information (properly backed up), this will save processing time.

South America is not comparable to Mexico, neither other countries.

In general the worst you can do is comparing yourself to others, this only brings frustration as we tend to compare ourselves with better cases, and decide to ignore worse scenarios than ours.

Backlog is understood as applications exceeding the posted average processing time. So if your application has more than 17-18 months then yes, you will benefit from this.
