@ LoveKitten, Yes usually if they ask you to pay then its a yes, but you cant be 100% sure until you have it in hand. I have read it take a month or 2 to process. How long did it take or when did you receive your AOR ? Thanks

@ itscoezy, thanks for sharing your case, good luck with the TRV, let us know how it goes

AOR? Ummm ... I'm a newbie, so I don't know what AOR stands for, lol. Is it acknowledgement of receipt or something? If so, then they acknowledged that they received our file on December 22, and I sent in our application on November 11, so a little over a month. I'm hoping that means it's a yes. Even if it's a yes but it'll take another month, I'm okay with that ... it's so much easier when you can actually see the finish line ...

HI ALL!

Just wondering your opinion. I am only applying for TRV right now, but wondering what your opinion was on using VAC services?
I don't have 6 months of previous bank statements to show and they are requiring this on their checklist. I was wanting to send it directly to Mexico City as it doesn't actually list this as a requirement on the Canadian Website (that I can find) just proof of finances.

thoughts, opinions?

We used the VAC services last year when we applied for the TRV. If I remember correctly the main reason was that the fee included the DHL shipping to MEX city and back to then VAC and it also allowed us to pay cash at Scotia Bank instead of having to get a cashier’s cheque. The VAC “called our attention to a few requirements“, that according to them, we did not meet. And I said so you are telling me you will not accept our file or we will be denied by the embassy? They said no we are just saying you are missing x item. We said we know and they sent it off anyway. We received a multiple entry TRV a week later.

PS be sure and follow the advice of DATTAD and have a couple of good letters. (You may want to include a copy of your FM3 or No Inmigrante card and a letter from your work as well if you have one) I also think any proof of past international travel for the applicant is very helpful.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

PS Remember that the VAC is NOT the embassy nor are they embassy employees. They are a private company that is supposed to make applying for the TVR easier.

Dear ones. NEVER assume the embassy will put 2 + 2 together. Or that emails are actually read.

Case in point:

Embassy just emailed to ask what the tattoo MEANS.

Which was ALREADY fully explained in the email hubby sent along with digital photo. Not to mention the original prints that were dropped off at embassy following day.

Hubby is printing off said email to walk over to embassy tomorrow morning, given that a response is required WITHIN 30 DAYS.

OMG I am officially going to have a heart attack. Alternatively, if you don't hear from me again, I've been committed to a facility to "rest".

Thanks Huron. I know that wishing for them to assemble ALL the questions in one email would be too much to hope for, so I shall try to hold on to the fact that at least there are signs of life on our file.

Faxing in addition to personal delivery is a good tip. We'll try that as well.

I think they just want you to get used to the way that CRA works. You'll see.

My husband just returned from personally dropping off a copy of the email in question. He asked whether or not the emails are actually read, and the counter lady said that yes, email is checked daily. She also said that any documents submitted in person at the embassy are handed off in the afternoons. Obviously that was not the case with my husband's last communication with them but anyway...the requested information is now in. Again.

I do recall that the last email sent to the general address did not get the usual auto response bounced back, so am wondering if at the time there was a system glitch and they never actually received the message. Who knows? Onwards...
