Oh... well it seems like there are always little things that can go wrong. So glad you were able to get an extension. Is your objective to make sure they got the questionnaire?

Separate question for the group... on the sponsorship evaluation is "net personal income" your income after deductions - like what actually goes in your bank account - or after all your expenses period?

Not necessarily. We received the PGR/SSP request along with more common law proof and then a couple weeks later were asked to come for an interview.
Most often they request the interview at the time they request the PGR/SSP but there are cases where it comes after, our case included :)

GoodlucK:)!

I know, I´m in León. I had to sign a carta poder so a friend could pick it up. Let´s hope you can get it the same day.
We are doing the same thing with our mother in law, how did it work out for you, did they need to have any additional documents to get it ? Do you know the address she should go to or any other instructions she might need ?

Hey does any body know why the medical office in Merida no longer does the medical exams?

Can someone please help me? My boyfriend and I are currently living in Celaya, Guanajuato, and recently got engaged. We will be married at the end of January in Puerto Vallarta when my parents are visiting us. We plan on leaving for PV right after Christmas, because I know the marriage license, etc, needs to be from the same state. But is there anything we can get together here in Guanajuato? Also, I am very confused about the "Autorización para que un extranjero pueda contraer matrimonio con mexicano" application... please help! Does this need to be done in Jalisco as well, or can we do it in a different state? How do we go about it, and how long does it take to get it? Kind of a last minute wedding :) Thanks so much.

I don't think they said.. I don't remember an announcement or anything.. it just suddenly was off the DMP list along with others. When my husband got his done in Merida.. the Dr didn't seem to completely undersand the procedure. So I don't know if his incompetence was a contributing factor or not. Our medical was sent to Ottawa without indicating what VO, I learned from the notes. In the end we had no issue with the medicals though.

Our relationship proof was reviewed after receiving the PGR, as per the notes. So an interview is still possible after the PGR request.

Congratulations on the progress you've made.

2b. Re client ID number - have you ever applied for any other visa, visitor record, of document from CIC? If so, that's where the client ID nubmber is from. The client ID remains the same across applications.
So my partner's refugee status was rejected in the past. I guess that's why we have an ID number? And we should use the same one?

4. It is best to wait until your application is in the visa office so they can more quickly match up the additional info to your application once you have a file number from your step 1 approval. If you aren't including something upfront include an explanation (e.g., for the PGR explain you need a letter from the Embassy of Canada in Mexico) to avoid confusion at CPC-M.
When you say "the visa office" you are referring to the embassy in Mexico City, right?

6. Mexico doesnt have a national ID so you can skip it. The closest would be either the IFE or the CURP but they aren't national IDs per se.
We have CURP... is it not misleading to say "no" here? According to wikipedia it seems like this is considered a national ID doc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_identification_number#Mexico

The frustrating thing about this is the CURP has no expiry date and you can't validate IMM0008 without one. Grrrr!

We also have an electoral card but the address is my partner's old address.. he would have to update it so the address is his current address. And that could extend our time lines even more...

Good luck! Sounds like you are working away quite quickly!
Thanks! That means a lot coming from you!

One more question about military service... does anyone have experience getting to Canada with just the precartilla? What did you do when you were summoned to pick one of the balls? Cause you have to stay in Canada for 2-3 years before you can re-enter the country.

The last thing we want is some kind of criminal record that prevents my partner from going home to visit family and stuf...

I found this post from the forum from a while ago. I think the comments by LeisaP and Edgarsitow might be useful for you.

Keep in mind our situation is a bit different. My husband was living in the U.S. during the whole process (he was undocumented in the U.S. as well). We sent his PGR (informe de datos registrales) in April. They came back with more questions in May because there were "hominimos" found in their database (my husband has a very common name) so we had to send someone (my hubby's brother) to the SSP for a follow up report (the Certificado de antecedentes no penales) as my hubby was living in the U.S. and not physically in Mexico. We finally were able to get the Certificado de antecedentes no penales and we submitted it on June 29th. The PPR request came on August 1st. So if we count from the moment they received all of the relevant information and the date of PPR, that was about 33 days. And trust me, the waiting darn near killed us too!! I think the toughest wait was actually when we sent my hubby's passport in for the visa(after we got the PPR). We were waiting in the U.S. so we had to wait for them to courier the passport back to us. That took about 8 days or so. That wait was EXCRUTIATING!! If at all possible, I would recommend that you go to the counter at the Embassy of Canada in Mexico to have them stamp the visa. They ask you to drop the passport off at 10:30am and pick it up at 3:30pm the same day. That takes the guesswork out of everything! Good luck with everything. I am sure your PPR is coming any day now!
