I can't tell you the exact dimensions, but any photo place will be able to do it, as it is a very standard and popular request. Unless you're asking because you already have some photos and maybe you want to use them?

Ruh-roh... but you can probably get good photos taken if you provide the right specs. Those specs are:
"Se requieren 2 fotos recientes con fondo blanco tamaño pasaporte 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm (1 3/8’’ X 1 3/4’’) de frente, con orejas y frente descubierta, sin aretes y sin anteojos."
Translated: 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm (1 3/8’’ X 1 3/4’’) in size, with a white background, ears and forehead visible, no hardware (earrings, studs, whatnot) and no glasses.

The PGR does NOT use passport photos. They haven't bothered to update their website. The type of photo is an oval-shaped one.

Yes I went about 2 months ago. I was told by the guy at the photo place that for the PGR it was oval-shaped photos, I didn't believe him, but just in case I took two sets, one of oval-shaped and another one of passport sized photos. It turns out the ones I needed were the oval shaped ones, and I've read cases here where people go with the passport sized photos and they get rejected.

A Mexican passport photo is 4.5x3.5 cm. However, you don't want a regular Mexican passport photo.

A Canadian passport size will work better for your case as long as it's taken with different specifications - see details below.

For the PGR informe (since Mr. mc1234 is in Canada), the essential requirement is that nothing is covering your face and that the photo is taken very, very close up to use up the entire frame. They prefer it to be at least 4.5x5 cm so Canadian passport size works fine (5cm x 7cm) - in fact, when the Canadian Embassy processes it they request Canadian passport photo size.
You can have no: makeup, earrings, glasses, beard, mustache, sideburns and all hair/bangs must be pulled back. The forehead and ears must be fully visible and uncovered.
The background must be white.
Also note that they request 3 photos of the front (remember: as zoomed in as possible) and 3 photos of the right profile (remember: as zoomed in as possible).

For others who may read this, for constancias (if you go in yourself because you are in Mexico) you need to get fotos tamaño filiación (they are oval, just like diploma photos and have very specific dimensions required for the face and profile which photographers in Mexico are familiar with).

ETA: You can call them at 5346 0000 Ext. 8428, 8430 or 8427 to confirm since I'd want to check it directly too ;)

just some newss..

So I talked to our Immigration Consultant and i informed her that we got a request to redo my husbands medical.
and she said this is very good news because the medicals and criminal checks are they very last thing they do before finalizing the application and that at this point she doesnt think we would be asked for an interview because the interviews would come before a request for a new medical.

So in otherwords shes pretty sure our interview was waived and we should be expecting contact from them soon and finalizing the application very soon.

yay!!
so our fingers are crossed that we will be back in canada before christmas!! if all goes well
:D that would be an amazing christmas gift!
