Mexico Visitor Visa Requirement - Still in Effect

I am having a hard time finding any info on this on the internet. There are some news posts from December of last year saying how Trudeau is committed to removing the visitor visa requirement for Mexicans coming to Canada, but I am trying to find out if there is an ETA on this. I want to take my wife with me for a visit so she can meet my friends. Maybe someone can help me find an answer. Also, when they remove it, will they replace it with any new requirements, other than having to convince the boarder agent that you will voluntarily return to Mexico when your visit is over?

That is not true.

Trudeau committed to revise the requirements for Mexicans coming to Canada. That's it. He even restated this to Peña: he would push the issue to parliament.

It is very unlikely Trudeau can make this happen (and it is not in his top priority neither). For the TRV to be lifted, the reasons why it was implemented should have substancially changed. The main reason was the rise of violence and Mexicans looking for refugee status in Canada. As far as Canada is concerned, things have not changed for the better slightly.

What may happen in around 2 to 3 years from now is that the US Visa can be used to enter Canada or Mexicans coming from the US might not need a TRV. This is the most optimistic possible scenario.
