Hola a todos:

I am Mexican and my boyfriend is Canadian. We are in the process of applying the common law visa. We live in Mexico and he will soon move to Canada due to his job. My question is:
What documents need to be translateted into English and stamped as certified copies?

My birth certificate, joint bank accounts, letters from family and friends validating our relationship, criminal records letter, What other documents?
Please I do need your help and any other recommendation regarding this process. Believe me this is so stressful.
I also know that I have to go to Mexico City to get my medical report at MEI. How long do they take to give it to you?
Please any help or comment would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Orangie :)

Hi, I'm been here for about a month and this forum really is going to help you a lot. It has done to me anyway.
First read the first post of the list is really helpful, second there is a tread for Mexico so get there because you learn a lot of this process.
I'm just preparing my application it's taking me so much time because my husband doesn't live here, I think that makes it more complicated. So first advice, start getting everything prepared and organized and leave the medical examination about the end, because I thought it would be easy and it's already been a month and a half since I done them and I'm still gathering stuff. Second I translated my birth certificate, and my marriage certificate. I think it's a tread for common law sponsorship too, because I think you need to get notarized letters from your family and friends to prove your relationship is genuine, I think you can find more information in the forum.
I made my appointment for the medical exam one more before, but it say you can make an appointment a week before, they got a website with all you need to know about that. You get there at 7:45 am and it takes like 3 hours to have everything done. At the end they give you a form with a number and a bar code, that is the one you have to send with your application. They send everything about that the CIC for processing the medicals and then send the results to the VO where is going to be processed.
About the police we have to wait till they send a letter with instructions to get them. All this I learnt it in this forum and reading a lot on the internet, because yeah this process is really stressfull. Right now I'm working on it actually.
Where are you from?
Good luck

Hola Gamyover, thank you so much for your reply.
I still have some doubts about it. I've been looking and searching what documents need certify translation.
Carta de antecedents No penales?
Birth certificate?
What else?
You said that you translated your b certificate, Did you get it stamped as cert translation? If so, where?
I have so much in my head that is turning around.

Gracias gracias gracias for whatever support info.

I'm from Veracruz living in Playa del Carmen, How about you?

Hi, we applied common-law my spouse is from Mexico (martinez de la torre, veracruz :p )
He just landed last week
And we only got his birth certificate, and his college degrees translated into english. But all of our evidence was in english to begin with because we met and lived in canada prior to the sponsorship.

I live just next door to you in Cozumel, yes I got a certified translation. Search in google traductores certificados mexico embajada canada and you will get info about it.
You don't need carta de antedecentes no penales right now as I said and according to what I read on this forum and on CIC website, they send a letter later asking you for a PGR and a SSP paper and they explain you what to do, but in the Mexico tread they got better explanation on what do with police stuff when the moment comes.

I have seen in this forum that the official documents need to have a certified translation, and non official documents can be translated by you or your boyfriend, like mails, and chats.

Much as gracias Leisa, Much gracias Gamyover.!!!

I am going to update here whatever we do. For the time being, I am going to have my Bcert and my criminal records check translated n stamped. There is an official translator in Playa del Carmen and has dealt with this visa stuff. Passport? It is in Spanish, English and French! So why do they ask for the translation of it?

Another thing is: My boyfriend lives in Vancouver, Where does he have to send all the package to process the visa?

Congratulations to my paisano from Veracruz Leisa, you both are lucky!!!!
What's your update Gamyover??

Saludoss!!

Assuming you are applying for PR using the outland process: Mississauga, Ontario.

Your application will be processed in Mexico City, But it needs to be sent to Mississauga first for step 1 approval(approving the sponsor as eligible), than they will forward it to Mexico city for step 2 processing (approving the relationship is genuine, police checks, medical etc)

Congrats LeisaP!!!!! When I saw your picture and how happy you are, I though how worth is the wait to finally be with our loved ones.
By the way how you put that picture there? I have seen it in some post but no idea where to get it.

I found a translator in Playa, just write on the google traductores certificados mexico embajada canada and on the search results click where it says Traductores certificados de Mexico. In that website is a list with the translators authorized by Canada Embassy.

Thanks!! I took that picture the second day he was here ;D . Yeah, during the process you really get worn down, but once your loved ones are back in Canada it honestly is just a distant memory, you forget how hard the process was. :p
Just click on the purple area and it should take you to the website where you can build your own ticker and add a picture to it :)
