As people are aware the ETA’s that Mexican citizens had for Canada were cancelled. I’ll explain my situation and maybe someone will have some advice.
I’m Canadian and my girlfriend is Mexican. She works full time as a teacher in Mexico. In the early 2000’s she had a work permit and worked and lived in Canada for about 5 years. She currently has a flight booked to Europe later in March with a connection in Canada in both directions. She also has plane tickets to come to Canada in the summer to visit me for about a month from mid July to mid August. She does not currently have a US visa.
I am aware she needs to apply for a new visa. So my questions are:
1. Do you think it’s possible she’ll get the visa prior to her departure for Italy later this month? AC has offered free changes to postpone to April but she is travelling on her spring break from school so that doesn’t help. The email from AC didn’t say anything about free cancellations.
2. Does anyone know the validity (days, months, years) for the new visa? In other words, is it necessary in the application to mention the summer trip or would the visa be valid for a duration that covers that time anyway? I thought it might be less complicated to not mention it or what are people’s thoughts on that?
3. She has had US visitor visas in the past and a Canadian work permit. But neither are within the scope allowed to apply for a new ETA. Do they impact this? Should they be mentioned?
Thanks in advance for any helpful replies!
