My wife is Canadian and I am from the US. We got married in Mexico in Playa del Carmen. Our marriage certificate was mailed to us with a translation and the translators license already.
For my application package, I originally got a certified true copy of the Spanish original done by a notary in Ontario and was going to include that with a copy of the translation and the translator’s license. However, on the Canadian immigration site it said documents from Mexico need to be certified by the Mexican government.
So I went to the Mexican consulate and got a certified copy ofour marriage license there.
My only worry is that the letter with the consulates signature and seal stating that it is a certified true copy is in Spanish. The consulate said they could not provide one in English.
Is this ok to include in my application package (the copy from the consulate with the letter in Spanish, along with the translation and translator’s license) or do I need to get that letter translated and maybe certified? Should I also include the photocopy I had certified by the Canadian notary just to be safe?
I just want to make sure the immigration agent doesn’t find anything that causes them to deny our application.
