We have been together for 7 months now and have known each other and been in contact everyday for a year now. I have a few questions about her visiting here and/or moving here.

First off we would really like for her to come for a visit under a tourist visa so she can see what Canada is like and meet my family etc... but when we applied for one last summer her application was rejected due to various reason. Mainly because they say she didn't give them enough reason to believe she would leave the country after her visit. So what I am wondering here is, is there anything we can try or do differently this time when applying to help make sure she is granted the visa to come for a visit? If we provide return flight tickets that are already bought an paid for would that help? Or is it pointless to try again after she was turned down the first time around?

Now second... After doing some research it appears to me that the only way she would be able to move here is for us to get married? Or to become common-law partners by living together for a year. Would we have any chance of Conjugal status? or not because I could quit my job and sell my house and move there?
If we were to get married and apply for her status there is a 12 month wait for the application process. Would she need to wait the whole time in Mexico or would she possibly be able to visit under a tourist visa as my wife during the waiting period?

I really reallllllly appreciate any and all help and advice that you guys can offer me!!!

Thanks in advance!

If she was denied a visit visa previously then there is a good chance she will be denied again. However nothing is stopping you from trying. She should provide as much evidence as possible to demonstrate that she has strong ties to her home country and has no plans to remain in Canada long term. I wouldn't buy the plane tickets unless they're fully refundable. And no - there's unfortunately nothing you can do to guarantee she will be approved.

You can only sponsor her for PR if you are married or common law (i.e. have lived together for a year). You don't qualify for conjugal since there are no barriers to getting married or living common law. Assuming you are a Canadian citizen, you could sponsor her for PR while living outside of the country.

Once you file the PR application, she can certainly try applying for a visit visa. However the chances of being approved will be even lower since it will very difficult for her to prove she has no plans to remain in Canada long term.

Thank you very much for your quick response. I guess there is no hurt in trying again but we had did all we could the first time to prove that she had strong ties there and it was still denied. It really seems the only way she can even visit here is if we are to get married. It's a little annoying to realize this but it is what it is I guess.

So it seems the only way for her to come here is if we get married and apply for PR and then wait the 12-13 months for processing... I have a hard time accepting this as the only way.... lol ughhh... I wish there was tricks to the trade... lol

Well thanks again for your help Scylla :)

The processing time for Mexico varies. 80% of applications are processed in 12 months. We were 10. It could have been 7 but we were missing something and didn't realize it until after we got a second notice asking for it.

I am in the same situation with my boyfriend from mexico. I really want him to come and meet my family and we are so nervous about the TRV application. We decided to be homost and just give it a chance and then have a plan b if he gets denied. He has a job and previous travel history to canada before the visas were a requirement. He bought a return ticket and I sent an invitation letter and said he was my boyfriend which is the truth. We have been together for 1.5 years and if he gets denied then I will have to go down to mexico again. Nothing you can do skmce each persons application is case specific. He will be submitting the application at the end of the month. Finger and toes are crossed!! Keep me
Posted on your situation. I would apply again and try to show ties to home country. It is a shame mexicans have a hard time trying to visit canada for tourism. I read an article that they once denied a supreme court judge from mexico city! So ridiculous. Haha
