Hello everyone!

My husband is from Canada and I’m from Mexico, we currently live in Mexico since we got married almost 2 years ago. We want to start the process of sponsorship but don’t know how to start since both of us live in Mexico. It’s been hard on him since he works more hours for less money but he doesn’t want to let me alone here to go back to Canada, he left everything behind him to come and marry me so it’s time for me to leave everything behind me to go back with him to Canada. 8)

So please, share with me your experiences, tips and some advice, so we can start this process. ;D

Thank you so much for your help.
;)

I'm actually a Canadian living in DF (two years now as well) with my Mexican wife and we started our process 3 months ago, so far everything seems to be going well :)

Yes, he is!!
If he's a Canadian citizen, he can sponsor you while you are both living in Mexico.

What he needs to do is include proof you intend to return to Canada. He can either include it up front or write a letter stating he will provide it once CIC is ready to issue the visa. (That second option may delay the application by 2-3 months, but it can also be hard to "prove" you want to return to Canada when you don't know when the visa will be issued.)

So he doesn't have to go back to Canada. He can, but he doesn't have to.

Here is a guide to help: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3900ETOC.asp#3900E2

Thank you for your responses, I started to read the Mexico thread and I got a little nervous with this whole thing.

I'm concern about showing that this is a real relationship, let me explain, we have been married for almost 2 years (next month) and we haven't travel much or taken pictures, we don't have many friends, and if my family gather together there are not pictures involved, he has the flight tickets to Mexico when we were dating and when he came from Canada, we live in my sister's house so we dont pay rent, we spend christmas almost alone and not pictures, so i do started to worry because there is not much prove like so many people with tons of pictures, I have small family and they are all over the country and in the USA.

I have some pictures, and also i can get some letters from some friends and neighbors, our doctor and my family and his, but I don't know if it's enough prove.

Can anyone let me know, if this is good or not so much!! please!

Help!

Thank you, Its is true that he need to get a package from Canada and fill it out?? also I heard someone said that he can get the package online, don't know for sure.

Do you know if having a immigration lawyer helps?? I was in Canada for 16 months on a work visa and then came back then I apply for a turist visa and it was denied, I heard that if you miss anthing from last application it can be taken by fruad, so I'm kind os afraid, no that I have said something wrong but if I don't remember anything about it!

that's great!
because you are married you don't have to prove as much as a common-law couple does.

so I would include as many pictures of you together and family (if possible) that you have, also include the plane tickets of any trips you took to and from Mexico/Canada.
Letters from friends and such like u said earlier are great.
Also since you live with your sister, ask her to write a letter stating that you both do in fact live with her and how the rent and bills are paid or split or however you work things out.

Any proof of shared bills or accounts or anything is good if possible, or if you communicate on facebook/email or phone logs are good evidence.

Awesome, I lived there with my spouse for about 7 months during the process(the other few months we were in puebla, mexico city, Veracruz, PV) , and I loved it!! Its like a second home for us <3 :) I miss it all the time! cant wait to take our first trip back!

I'm Mexican with a Canadian husband too, unfortunately he lives in Canada and I'm in Mexico, so we have spent most part of our relationship apart, and believe me it's harder when you have to prove a long distance relationship. Well I see it that way. I'm almost done but I still felling really scared when I read some posts and I just hope everything is ok for hubby and me.

Read the posts in Mexico's thread has been really helpful, since I was getting ready for having my medical examination done.

I was thinking while reading your post, did you and your husband have any document where it shows your address?, I mean I live with my parents and I don't pay rent, but at work they have this address, in my IFE they have this address, the bank. Something that proves you guys live there.

It doesn't matter if you don't have lots of friends either, maybe you can make 2 or 3 good friends to write a letter saying they know about your relationship and how they see how much you love each other, you can find examples in the forum.

I have lots of pics of me and my hubby and at the end you have to pick the ones you think show your relationship better, so maybe the ones you have are enough.

When you are starting you just see too much to do you get worried, but just think what evidence you have and how you can use it and then everything is going to look better to you.

Good luck.

You need pictures from before your wedding, during(including guests, reception and actual wedding) and pictures of after your wedding.

You don't need to send tons of pictures just a few good ones, 15-20 pictures in total should suffice as long as they show the couple with other people such as friends and family.
