Hi,

My PR file under PNP is in process. I got married and added my husband's name to my PR file.
I want to mention him as "Not Accompanying" on my PR file now. The reason is there are some marital issues as I am convinced now that he married me just for his PR. The relationship was full of physical abuse and I do not want him to join me to Canada at any cost.
But in the process, I do not want my PR file to get cancelled.
After talking to CIC call center representative today, I understood that he will still have to undergo his medicals whether "Accompanying" or "Not Accompanying".
The CIC will contact him for his medicals when needed.
My question is: Will my husband realise that I have mentioned him as "Not Accompanying" when CIC contacts him for medicals in future? If yes, then I am afraid that he will not get his medicals done, thus complicating my case.
I am planning to initiate legal divorce procedure once I get my PR.
Please advise.

Can you get the divorce done now? If yes, you can do that and then let CIC know you're no longer married. That way, you can be sure he won't accompany you to Canada.

I got medical request for me and my husband today from CIC. Once the medical exam is cleared, can I mention him as "Not Accompanying" on my PR file? I will do it after medicals because he would not co-operate if he knew it earlier.
I am going to file for divorce after medical exam.

Write IRCC through the case specific enquiry and mention that you will like change your husband to non accompanying.
