Hello everyone.

I am going to apply for a study visa in Canada. I want to know if you need to disclose the information about your past mental health to the doctor during the medical examination? Do the doctors ask?

I had depression and OCD but I stopped the medication and meeting doctors for almost 2 years now. Will that be a problem when asking for the visa?

Thanks

You are supposed to declare your medical history. It's unlikely to be a problem, so there is really no good reason not to.

Thank you zardoz. So they will ask me during the medical check?

If your medical is like mine was, you have a questionnaire to complete. I think that it's in there.

Just to update everyone.

I already underwent the medical exams

there was indeed a questionnaire asking your medical history and I ticked I had met psychiatrists before

When I met the doctor, they asked about it. I answered and gave them comments from my psychiatris that my condition is ok now.

Now waiting for the embassy to decide. I will let you all know later!

Thanks for sharing your experience during your medical exam Maplesyrub.

About the questionnaire regarding medical history, do they ask for the past 2 years or beyond that?

nope... It included all the past

Ps I would feel relieved if anyone here faced the same situation (OCD or depression) and got the visa. :-[

I see. Thank you very much for answering my question and I'm sorry, my case is different. I was under medication for community acquired pneumonia more than 2 years ago already.

Thanks! You too! :)

Hi,

I just want to let everyone know, in case you will be facing the same situation as mine in the future, that OCD and depression are fine!
I just got my visa today, APPROVED!

You just need to provide comments written by your doctor and stay positive!

Good luck everyone
