Hi

I have been accepted into the MBA program at MUN for Fall 2013. Could someone who is attending this program please tell me how good is the library? Is it better to get/ buy books from India as I have heard that books there are expensive?

Separately, could anyone who is already at MUN, let me know if there are any ATM's within the campus? If yes, then which bank has the most visibility in and around the campus? I am planning to open a No Fee bank account with RBC. Could anyone review it for me? Also, is there any better bank which gives great student deals?

Thanks in advance
Hey,

Is it a 2yr program and when does the classes start for this Fall

HI,

I don't know what is the fees for Post Graduate Diploma in MUN, but Memorial has the lowest fees in canada for masters when compared to others and regarding PR, if yu do a 2 year course you ll be gettin 3 yrs work permit which wil lead to PR and you can see the PR rules of New Foundland , you have to check in this website.

Regards,
Lakshmanan
Dear Lakshmanan,

This means I need to apply PR in New Foundland only? or can i apply through FSW or other programs for PR as well?

I was selected for a M.Eng course which is a research based Masters. You can get Off-Campus and On-Campus Jobs but Off-Campus is after 6 months once you have your off-campus work permit. On-Campus, you can work from day 1 if you get a job. They are there, you just have to keep a look out.
Hi a_a_d,

Hoping for good,

Now a days I am taking Information about the MUN(fine arts) Bachelors in FA(Visual arts).......

My situation...... This year i applied for Diploma course in animation in NBCC-Miramichi campus. I secure admission but my visa got rejected may be because i applied together with my wife!!!!! I transfer that admission and fees to next year for the safe side.... I was looking for the Masters in design and fine arts but mostly for 1 year and i wanted to opt a 2 years course which can fetch a 3 years post graduation work permit........

How are the conditions there?? living and job conditions?? is it easy to find odd jobs for meeting the expenses? For Masters they have very less fees but for graduation they have $6000 for whole course the cheapest in whole Canada..... while for Bachelor its $8,800 a year means it can reach to $36000 for 4 years.....

While NBCC-Miramichi 2 years are $12000 fees.. but that is diploma... and my Ielts score is 6 bands overall.....

I have some questions.....

Is it better to go for Diploma (as personally its suiting me to enhance my skills) as I am already bachelor in design...
or
a 4 years graduation though i am already having 4 years graduation in design....(but in MUN they tour 3-4 weeks in england also for touring the arts student and look for different works and all that which is really good)

Do MUN required 6.5 for the graduation? Which i think so yes.......

Other then this if it will come to visa...... is it sound strong doing another honors bachelor after u already have a honor degree from home country?

About the Finance and all... they look for a 1 year fees capability with 1 year living expenses or whole course?? because in Masters case it cheaper u can show $6000 straight away but if $8000 per year is the fees one has to show 32000 plus same as living expenses??

Best Regards

MUN will be accepting TOEFL too but for Visa processing The Visa officers prefer IELTS , so y take risk, just give ur IELTS instead of TOEFL, infact IELTS is way easier than TOEFL

Because the only food that is available in Newfoundland is seal flipper pie, so no one wants to go there.

Seriously, no one would ever want to go to NewFoundland.

Almost ZERO jobs and economy is slow/weak. I see many people from Newfoundland coming to work in Alberta in the oil sands up in Fort Mc. and when you ask why they moved they would answer "Unemployment"!!

I would recommend that you spend a little more (if affordable) and live in a bigger/stronger province because by the time you graduate, you will have a wide network of contacts during school time that would help you find a job easier, plus if you go to a province say like AB, economy is stronger and many available jobs.

On the other hand, if MUN is within your budget, get your degree there and try and move to a different province. You can still find a job but could take you a little longer depending on your field/industry.

Thats my 2 cents!!

Good luck

Let me guess, you live somewhere other than Newfoundland (possibly Alberta)? In that case, of course you have only spoken to people who have not made it in Newfoundland and moved to Alberta for work. Kinda like reverse Survivorship bias. When choosing a city to study in, I would listen to both people who live and work in the city right now, and to people who have moved away from there for various reasons. Don't only look at one side of the coin.

That's MY 2 cents.

Oh, btw, I got accepted to the undergraduate program at MUN just yesterday (for winter '14), in the transfer student category. Didn't get the acceptance letter yet - I just emailed an international admissions officer I've been talking to earlier to ask if they got my TOEFL results yet, and he replied saying that he had received them the very same day and told me that I had been accepted. :)
