Hello,
I am on the AINP, got approved as Provincial nominee, application went to federal in February, I had my medicals done in May 2009, received an Initial Assessment complete letter from CIC Buffalo requesting for Police Certificates and RPRF on June 15, got them and sent it off July 27th 2009, now how much longer do I need to wait?
I am concerned because my work permit expires August 31 2009, and not sure if I should spend the additional $300 for my spouse and I to renew it when I know Vegreville has 75 day processing time currently.

Any direction would be great.

Thanks,

Hello...at this stage I would recommend you not to take chances to be out of status while you wait for your PR. Send your application to renew your work permit before this one expires. As you said, it takes more than 70 days to get the new one. You will be on implied status so you will be able to continue working until either you get your WP or the PR. In case you get the PR before the work permit extension, you can withdraw the application for the WP and if they have not started processing it, they will refund the application fees to you.
Better be safe than sorry !!

Thank you, I will send for my work permit renewal right away. Is there anything else that can make or break for the decision to get my PR? I had initially assumed that I would have to pay the RPRF only if approved and while landing in Canada. But it seems that has changed.

Be patient and wait...you are almost there...I assume they have not request your passport yet, after they review your medicals and send the decision to Buffalo you will be asked to send your passports, if you decide to go in person, you can get the visas sooner that mailing them.Buffalo is loaded with applications, and like I said before, the only way for you to be allowed to continue working is having implied status in Canada.
