Hello Everyone,

I applied under Canadian Experience Class in the late June and have received the AOR recently.

I haven't received any Medical request from CHC, Buffalo yet. However, I heard applicants can do their medicals in advance to expedite the process. Can anyone put some light on the issue?

Regards,
A Khan

No, you wait for the medical instructions and the form IMS1017 from Buffalo.

You are right PMM.

Unless one can bring the "personalized" medical forms (IMM 1017) from a visa office, no DMP can do principal applicant's medical. I in fact contacted number of local DMP's regarding the issue. As a reference one of them forwarded a link containing FAQ's regarding medicals. From that page I am sharing a specific question here.

"Can I have a medical exam done in advance to speed up my application?
No. Unless you are being sponsored as a spouse, partner or dependent child, do not initiate any medical tests until you receive instructions and a personalized medical form from this office. Only original forms stamped by the visa office and indicating a valid file number will be accepted by Designated Medical Practitioners. We cannot issue medical instructions or forms until we have received your complete application."

I think there are two issues here - doing the medicals in advance and doing the medicals in advance to expedite the process. Apparently, some DMPs do have the medical instructions and forms and the willing ones can perform medicals as long as the applicant has all the necessary documentation. A number of CEC applicants (accroding to trackitt forums - http://www.trackitt.com/canada-discussion-forums/canadian-experience-class/583089319/medicals-in-advance) have done medicals in advance.

However, it does not necessarily mean that applications for people who've done medicals in advance will be processed faster. So the way I look at it is that yes, you can do medicals in advance (though you need to look for a DMP willing to do that), but this will not mean your application will be given priority/processed faster.

Since the instructions say NOT to do it in advance, it's a gamble. Just because some applicants have done so successfully, does not mean all who do so will have the results accepted.

Also note that medicals are valid for only one year. With the increasing length of processing time for CEC applications (there's a post about the possibility of it going up to 18 months), if you do it too soon, you may have to do it again.

Hi,

I had applied for my PR in the CEC category in Feb 2010 to Buffalo. The application includes my wife. The file was subsequently moved to New York.

I took my medical tests in advance in April 2010 since the DMP had forms. Then we waited for medical exam request, which came in late August 2010. My wife underwent her medical tests at the time, and I sent receipts for both of our tests by mid-September 2010. After a number of months, when I inquired with the New York Consulate, they said that they haven't received my medical test results. I sent them copies of the medical test receipt and the courier delivery information again, but there has been no further update.

My questions are:

1. Has this problem been caused because I did not submit the form they sent for medicals?

2. What are my options now? Should I take another medical test and send the results?

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't recommend doing medicals in advance as CIC sends a form with your picture on it which needs to be submitted to Doctor. Just received my medical and PR fees request yesterday.
