Hi guys,

I’m sponsoring my husband for family class sponsorship and we currently live outside of Canada. We gave birth to our daughter and she already has her Canadian passport. However was also issued a request for medicals…..I’m confused because I thought medicals weren’t required for her because she already has her Canadian citizenship…I submitted a webform but it takes forever to hear back.
Any advice?? Thanks.

Is she accidentally listed somewhere as being sponsored? Our daughter born outside Canada didn't even have her Canadian docs yet when I got my medical request and she didn't have to do a medical.

Have the medicals done for the parent, wait four weeks before sending another webform, and don't worry too much.

This occurs if you include the citizen-or-PR-child on the iMM0008, which prior to the fully online you definitely weren't supposed to do, and now I understand is completely ambiguous on the electronic form. (My view you still should not, but now the instructions are a mess)

Yes I have already booked a medical for my husband and submitted a webform to inquire about the situation…. Hopefully worst case scenario is that this causes some delays… I don’t plan on taking her for medicals as it doesn’t seem to make any sense? I don’t supposed there’s been a radical change of policy… I also don’t believe I listed her on imm008? But I completed the online application … and I only submitted fees for one person.
Thanks for the feedback! Really appreciate it!

It's happening more right now with the move to the online submission, so there's something about that format which is causing them to add citizen-kids to medical requests. And yes, don't have the kid examined.

Worst case would be a minor delay, and probably not even that.

Happened to us too. It slightly delayed the process as they wouldn't move forward without it. I messaged them asking if it was an error. Eventually they got back and said I'd filled something in incorrectly (I didn't) and confirmed that Canadian citizens don't need the medical and gave me a new form to fill in and inputted it for me themselves which seemed to work.
