Hello All,

I recently submitted my application & received BIL. I have to wait for 2 weeks for my BIO to be done as no appointment before that. I was wondering if I can already do my medicals while I wait for bio ? The status currently states you do not need medicals, we will let you know if this changes however I am aware it is mandatory for all who plan to stay more than 6 months. Also for any reason should my file get rejected & I have to reapply, do I have to do my medicals again or there is a validity for that ?

Appreciate any guidance.

Hi Thanks. Since I have already submitted my application, do I need to send the reports via webform or they will be directly sent by panel physicians online ?

Don't worry! If your application get to start processing, you will be requested for a medical exam by IRCC. You will receive a medical request document on your online application. You should then take this to the approved panel physician in your country and do your medical. Rest, the hospital team will take of it. In my case, I didn't do upfront medicals, and later got a request for medicals from IRCC. Good luck!

Thanks for the heads-up. How long after your application was submitted you got request for medical ? I was just hoping to save some time especially now with all delays since I cant do BIO for next 2 weeks. Is it even possible for me now to go to a panel physician to get it done or have to wait for some document provided by IRCC?

I got the request for medicals the almost the same day after I gave my biometrics (i submitted by application on October 17, 2020, but biometrics done on December 8, 2020). Since I was in the same city where panel physician is located, I booked up an appointment and went for the medicals and done with that the next day. Regarding your question on doing medical right now, I think no. You cannot do a medical unless if it is asked for by IRCC. If you submitted application already, you will receive instructions from IRCC after biometrics I think.

I think some (not all) GCC countries do not require a medical exam, only biometrics. You can refer to this link: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...temporary-residents/country-requirements.html

this may help to ascertain the requirement, that is why it states for some GCC residents that medical is not required.

Hi I thought so too but it says the following, so if you fall under the first criteria then second one is anyways irrelevant. If it was less than 6 months then yes, as a resident of relevant GCC countries you don't need to take medical.

If you’re applying to become a temporary resident of Canada, you must have a medical exam if you:

  • want to come to Canada for more than 6 months and
  • have lived or travelled for 6 months in certain countries or territories in the year before you come to Canada

Thanks, you are right. I called few of the panel physicians listed for my country & they said I need to go to the hospital with the checklist provided by CIC (which I assume is the medical request letter which will list what tests are required to be done).
