my medical got updated on 7th July 2021, I was wondering how long would it take for ircc to send me an update after this? Also if this is a positive development?

I think it's a very good indication that you will receive the passport request soon.
Earlier this year, some people I know whose medical was updated on the application portal received the passport submission request within a few days.
Do post here if and when you receive the passport request.

absolutely I will, although confused about how to count that few days to ppr, cause I have labs starting sept ,
