Hello. We are applying for TRV. I am the principal applicant applying for student visa, my husband in an open work permit and 2 children aged 3 and 1 visitors visa. Currently residing in Libya. We applied online in VFS Manila via agent last Dec.11,2018 and me(Filipino) and my children(dual citizenship) passed the Medical last Dec.19. My husband is a Libyan citizen and submitted his biometric last Dec.17 in CVAC Tunisia. Until now, my husband’s medical is not yet passed. It says “We are currently reviewing the results of your medical exam” but it’s taking too much time. Also his BGC states “we are processing your BGC” from Day 1 of submission. Can you pls tell me any reason about the delay in his medical results? We submitted upront btw.

@bellaluna
Hopefully we will be having a positive result. Also, in the Background check part for me and my children, it says “Not Applicable” from Day 1 of submission until now. Does it mean, that there’s no need for BGC for us really? Only my husband? Thank you

Given the current state of Libya it might take some time to complete a background check. There will also be concerns that he is seeking asylum although I assume he could get Phillipino residency through marriage which would not make him eligible for asylum in Canada.

The status isn’t always accurate. In a weird way that means BG check is being done by CSIS so it’s out of IRCC’s realm right now.

So that means to say, the standard 6 weeks processing time in VFS Philippines for student visa for me including my dependents, would tale longer time because of husband’s BGC?

Maybe. So that means to say that their online status is not updated or reliable? Especially the medical result of my husband that’s taking 5 weeks now.

It happens, rarely. I went through the same thing TBH. Medicals took 2 months where for most people it takes 2 days. But it all worked out for me in the end. That’s why I said nothng much you can do but wait.

Would you mind if I ask, from where you are and which VFS did you applied before? What does it mean TBH? Did you applied for Temporary Resident Visa? Student visa?

To be honest = TBH

I don’t think my details are relevant. I just wanted to assure you it happens. If you really must know, search for my posts from 2015/2016.

Hi. I double checked the status of the application of my husband. In the part of Biometrics it’s written there “We do not need your favorite fingerprints. We will send u a message if this changes”. This is from Day 1 upon submission, on Dec.11 then on Dec.12, they emailed for Biometric letter request. Biometric done on Dec.17, and in the summart of my husband’s application, it’s still written the same that they don’t need biometric from him, although in the upper right corner of the application status, where the Application number can be seen, there is the Biometric number, when it’s done and expiration date. But how come in the biometric part, it’s not written “Completed?” Since it’s already given.

Thank you
