Medical - scared of PR being denied!!

My husband is American and I'm Canadian. We have been together for 3 years and we will not have any issues proving the validity of our relationship. We were married 5 months ago on Feb.14th 2011. I live on the border near Buffalo so we live together and he crosses the border every day to go to work. He has no plans of ever working in Canada as he will get better medical coverage from his job in the US.

We're just putting together the PR and sponsorship application and I have a question about the medical exam.

If I'm sponsoring under family class can medical results potentially get your application denied? I didn't think that under family class it could. The reason I ask is that my husband (who is 29) was diagnosed with MS after we met and during us dating. Can they deny us because of this??

I don't think so as multiple sclerosis is not a threat to public health.

But it could potentially be a demand on our health system... not that he even uses Canadian doctors but he gets MRIs once or twice a year and Neurology appointments every 6 months.

I believe spouses are exempt from excessive demand...

"Spouses and dependent children are also exempt from the clause about excessive demand on health care so you do not have to worry about them being refused for that reason."

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I guess I don't have to worry about that. BUT, why require a medical exam if spouses are exempt from the clause??? Makes no sense.

Contagious diseases like tuberculosis is a threat to the public...... At least they get treated first before going to Canada ........ or HIV .......

My guess is for some extreme issue that would be a direct threat to Canadian health not merely someone who would require significant medical attention, much like for spouses evidently finances isn't an issue however I'm sure they can deny you if they see you're older and never work, have likely no way of working, no work history, or are inevitably going to require social assistance. If one considers that many children with scoliosis go untreated, just as one example, what it turns into later, it would be inhumane I believe to deny PR to an applicant of a sponsorship app just because they will inevitably require quite a bit of medical attention to either correct or cope with a personal disease.
