Hi Vik77,
If you have received medical request then 99.9% your interview has been waived, only in a very very few cases have there been interview requested after medical requests have been sent(again this is very rare). When you received your medical request letter, the interview waiver is mentioned in the letter(this used to be the case earlier) I am not sure about the letter you recived relating to Medical request. There is no updates in the E-cas status as mentioned earlier by me until all the Background checks are done, which is when the status Medical Results received is updated although your results would have been received much longer before.
The background check depends on the individual and accompanying members stay in countries outside their own, for example if you only stayed only in India after age of 18yrs then your case might not take a long time. This is purely on the time taken by the external agencies(other Goverment agencies like Federal Police, immigration etc) of the counties you have stayed in before applying for your PR.
Hope this helps
Rgds
