Hi Smile Forever,

There is no upward limit. The Minimum you need to take is the one prescribed by CIC, as applicable to the number of applicants in the family (for example, if you are a family of three, then you need to carry the minimum amount prescribed for the three applicants).

Amounts in excess of CAD 10,000/- need to be declared upon landing - at Customs. Ensure that you get their acknowledgement on your copy of the Currency Declaration Form - this amount is NOT TAXABLE, being the first amount you are bringing into the Country.

Amounts can be in Cash / CAD Draft / Travellers Cheques, or any other easily transferable mode of currency.

Regards.
NVLN.

thanks for the detail reply

Hi Suleman Aziz,

1. Make an Inventory List of the Gold Articles.
2. Assign your Estimated Value (in Canadian Dollars) to them.
3. Take Photographs of the Articles.
4. Make 2 Sets of the above Documents.
5. When you land in Canada (any Port), produce the List and Photographs to the Customs.
6. The First Set of the Documents to be given to Customs.
7. The Second Set is for your records. Ensure that you get Customs acknowledgment (stamp / seal) on your Copy.
8. Keep your records safe. Since this is the first time you will be bringing these items into Canada, all these are NON TAXABLE items.
9. If you want to get the Articles appraised while making the List, it is okay - but not required - your self declaration is sufficient.

Trust this helps.

Regards.
