Hi everyone:

We finally received our Med request after 3 years waiting. My family had given up and we are not ready for a move. I have a question. The 2 years they give you starts from the time your Medicals is done, correct? It is not from when you receive your Permanent Visa, correct?

Also, do all family members have to cross the border after receiving the visa, or just the primary applicant?

Thank you,
Cam1234

NOT clear on ur first question.

Second - of course all should land - how does one become landed immigrant then ?

PRINCIPAL APPILCANT IS MUST TO LAND, OTHERS IF NOT LANDING IT WILL BE CANCELLED WITH THE VISA EXPIRY.

Thank you,

Hi terki:

Thanks for your response. I think I figured it out. Let me know if I am wrong. Once you get your PR visa you will have a set date by which time you should land. The date is usually 1 year from the time when you finished your Medicals, correct?

Now as far as landing. You can land with your family and go back to your country for up to 3 years. You have to move to Canada within those 3 years and then live in Canada for the next 2 years.
Rules are: you have to live 2 out of every 5 years in Canada. Correct?

Thanks again
Cam

You must land in Canada before the expiry date, which appears on your Canada Immigration Visa. Usually, the expiry date is one year from the time medical examinations were completed

Accompanying dependents cannot land in Canada before the Principal Applicant has done so. The accompanying dependents may first land in Canada with the Principal Applicant or after the Principal Applicant, but in either case prior to the expiry date indicated on their Canada Immigration Visas.

Permanent Residents are not obliged to remain in Canada, and are in no way restricted from departure at any time. However, as a Canadian Permanent Resident, you must accumulate two years of "residency days" in each five-year period in order to meet your Canadian residency obligations.

RE-ENTRY determination is discretion of CBSA in conunction with applicable rules at that time
