Please review and advise on this situation. It will be of great help. Thanks in advance

AOR November candidate here. Medicals done in July 2015. After AOR submission in November, Medical result was updated as Passed within 3 days. Thereafter no movement in my application for close to 5 months. Past few weeks saw some activity with document requests, rprf and background check updated to in progress. Last week I got an update mail and found the Medical result was changed to "Not needed at this time". In couple of days, received mail from visa officer requesting for medical reassessment to be done stating that medical results have expired. Have been asked to submit xray results. No blood retest needed.

Questions

1. Medicals is valid for 1 year and would expire by July 2016. Not sure why visa office has stated it has expired. Is it because the time for landing would be less even if PR is issued now and hence the office has recommended new test?

2. I am currently travelling and will not be able to do this for next couple of weeks till May 23. There is no deadline stated in the mail. Do I need to communicate this delay to CIC? If yes, is there a contact mail id? The medical reassessment mail I received had a mentioned not to respond back to the id.

3. It is unfortunate additional expense for me and spouse primarily due to slow movement of the file. Is there any option to request for extension of current results since the application has been lying idle for 5 months leading to the relatively narrow time window now between probable PR issuance and medical expiry?

please note - my passport is also expiring in dec 2016. hence I want to come back to country and do medical reassessment + passport renewal and send the updates so that I am not constrained to do landing on or before dec 2016 which is not a lot of time. It would help me if I can delay the medical reassessment by three weeks.

Hello Brother,

I am into the same situation wherein my Medical Status changed this Friday to Not Needed from Passed...
I hope to get the Re-Do request of medicals as even mine expiring on 31st July and i would really like to do because obviously i will get enough time to land and prepare for the same...

Please share your time line with respect to changes to Med status and after how many days did cic asked for re-do of meds

My Meds status changed from passed to not needed on 13th May n still waiting for another update

Now coming to your questions..

A.> Yes you are right

2. I am currently travelling and will not be able to do this for next couple of weeks till May 23. There is no deadline stated in the mail. Do I need to communicate this delay to CIC? If yes, is there a contact mail id? The medical reassessment mail I received had a mentioned not to respond back to the id.

A.> You can do that i mean requesting that via CSE " https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx "
and mail ID depends which VO your profile is at this point if its Ottawa then send a mail to "CPC-CTD-ottawa@cic.gc.ca" apart from raising a CSE

3. It is unfortunate additional expense for me and spouse primarily due to slow movement of the file. Is there any option to request for extension of current results since the application has been lying idle for 5 months leading to the relatively narrow time window now between probable PR issuance and medical expiry?

I do not think there is any other option for you, my suggestion do your meds ASAP and get a years time to land..

Rest of the queston can be answered by more senior person..this is what i know off

Yes, look for the posts of the user yelena in the August AOR thread and the "those waiting for 6 months or more" thread, she got her medicals validity extended by raising a case specific enquiry because her medicals were expiring, and she just got PPR last week.
