My wife will be getting family class immigration soon. For how many months the medical insurance is valid (once she has landed and applied for residency and medical insurance)??

She still won't qualify. Provinces have residency requirements for health coverage to prevent people from doing exactly what you are wanting to do.

Also depends on the province. In Alberta, new immigrants must commit to residing for 1 yr, and after that, have to remain for at least 6 months out of every year to maintain coverage

Is this going to be a long term absence from Canada?
