Dear members,
I would like to know if somebody can evaluate the price of the medical insurance for 65 years old parent, who will live in Canada on visitor's visa? I have heard that many people on PR come with their parents having only visitor's visa and pay for their insurance till they are able to file sponsorship documentation. How realistic is this possibility?
Thanks.
Sobol.

As of now, a Canadian PR can bring their parents not only as a Visitor or Sponsor them (which would be enormously long and stressful process), but also as a Super Visa holder. The thing is, if a person holds a visitor's visa he/she can purchase a private insurance plan from either a Canadian insurance company or the one form their country of origin. However, it is always better to get a Canadian coverage especially for an older person for pretty obvious reasons such medical emergencies while in Canada. However, I would suggest that is easier to get a Super Visa instead of visitors one, since the approval rate is significantly higher for the super visa. However, insurance prices would not be different for the mentioned visa types.

Let's say for a 65 years old person with no pre-existing conditions and $0 deductible: the visitors insurance for a year would be $1905.30
$ 250 deductible $1714.77 or with $1000 deductible its is gonna cost $1524.24

You can calculate it yourself: Just search "super visa online calculator"
