Hi everyone, my husband is planning to study in Vancouver but he has CML (diagnosed in 2010) and taking generic gleevec for 8-9 years now. Will this be a cause for medical inadmissibility?
Impossible to say because rules are not the same for students.

what are the rules for students? sorry not familiar yet with these rules
There aren't any published rules partially because in some provinces make international students purchase international student medical insurance while others cover students under provincial healthcare.

Have you ordered your GCMS notes recently? That is the best way to get a status on your application.

Do you know that your spouse has been flagged as inadmissible based on ordering GCMS notes previously? If so, then you should be expecting to receive a PFL and the best option would be to hire a lawyer to assist you with next steps.

Based on your posts you file was transferred to Nairobi so this may be covid related delay. Agree that you should order GCMS notes. You have posted before that you are scared to raise an CSE but if you want to know what is going on you do need to make enquiries.

Thank you for your replies. I have ordered GCM notes on the 22nd of January 2021.Yet to received reply. I had tried to send additional information consisting of spouse prescription/ price , personal medical fitness done by his physician, letter from his work place to show he is healthy enough to keep working.I sent an estimate of his health cost which is below normal threshold. Yet i have not received a reply. Please is there any documentation I should send to avoid receiving a pfl? It is difficult to just fold my hands waiting to be sent a pfl. Please does any one have any idea on what I should do aside contact ing a lawyer?

Without knowing where you are in the process it is impossible to know what you can do.

Just an FYI to everyone.
I contacted my MP and wrote the following:
My son is diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder which flagged his medical as an excessive demand on the health system.
Since then the Centralized Medical Admissibility Unit (CMAU) didn't review or return a response on his medical or any guidelines about what will be next.
On June 1, 2018 The honourable Ahmed Hussen placed a policy to exclude cases as my son to be an excessive demand on the health system.
I know there are multiple situations right now during this pandemic and I understand how it affects IRCC processing time but I do want to share my and more families that are in the same situation where our children are not an excessive demand and are excluded from the Medical Admissibility but still treated as we are an excessive demand on the health system.
My son is special and I don't see why we are being left behind even if we are not causing any damage or cost to the health system.
I seek your assistance in this matter, and am grateful for any that you and your office provides.
Please feel free to contact me if you need more details and information.

Let’s see what is outcome and I’m probably planning to contact global news and ctv news after my application will be 100% which is next week.
If anyone would like to join to write their opinions and share their story you are welcome to do that with me.
I’m not only thinking about my self but for other families that will have this struggle in the future.

Being autistic doesn’t exclude you from medical inadmissibility. Some services that autistic children receive are not longer counted towards the 100k. You can’t say they are the same thing.

That’s exactly my point.
If we are not included in the cost of any medical demands that they require so why are we exactly treated as an excessive demand?
all of the treatments for ASD are excluded so why to continue what I call “discriminating” us.

Well that all depends I guess if you’re on a waiting list to see a specialist or not in this country
.... and if you aren’t currently, one day you will be ... so no complaints allowed on how long you will have to wait
And it will be a wait .......
Not everyone agrees with the Government
