Hi,

Has anyone recently given medical test from a different country rather than their visa office?

My visa office is London but under circumstances I am currently in India. I received my letter for medical last week. I am aware that I can give medical test anywhere in the world the only problem is the doctor in Kolkata told me that according to the new rule the doctors can only send my medical reports to New Delhi high commission only. They have received a circular clearly stating not to send anything abroad. But the doctor insisted he is been doing this for months for other people whose visa offices are in abroad and he is been sending documents to Delhi without any problem.

Can anyone here please help me out?

Many thanks
S

Medical results are all reviewed in Ottawa; the information is then entered into a computer system. That is why you use the special form with a unique serial number - it allows the VO to match up your medical results with the results in the computer system.

If the doctor is sending it to ND, then all they can do with it is send it onwards to Ottawa. However, one important advantage of this is that ND to Ottawa would be covered by diplomatic immunity, so those medical records could not be intercepted and reported to anyone else. I don't know that this is the case, but it actually would make a certain amount of sense.

Thanks for the reply that's really helpful. So, you are saying there would not be any problem if I give my medical in India even if my visa office is London.

It cannot matter. Medicals are evaluated by Ottawa.

I've done medicals twice and neither time (including last February) were they done in the same country as the visa office processing my application.

Actually the medical results are evaluated by the Immigration Regional Medical Centres. There is a list of them in the DMP Handbook. The processing visa office obtains the coded results electronically from the IRMC>

I assume you are referring to http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/publications/dmp-handbook/appendix-01.asp.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/publications/dmp-handbook/section-5.asp does state they send the medicals to the regional medical office. I stand corrected (this is what I get for relying upon the information of an immigration attorney rather than verifying it myself independently. One would think I'd learn by now.)

However, the point is still that regardless of where the DMP sends the IME, the data is entered into the same computer system and is then available to the appropriate visa office.

Hi,

Can you please inform me when your medicals got reflected in the e-cas system? I did my medicals in the UK in Jan 2012 and to this date the status for medicals having been received has not been updated, neither has the NDVO replied to any of my queries. It is really frustrating to keep checking the same message daily. Hope you can provide me with any information in this regards.

thanks,

Jai

I did my first medical examination in August, 2010 and the results showed up in e-cas in December 2011. I did my second medical examination in February 2012 and they showed up in e-cas in June 2012, although I obtained a copy of the medical officer's opinion letter in March 2012 (this is rather unusual, but my path through CIC is hardly representative of a normal course.)

You might want to use the e-cas tracker (https://ecas.carroll.org.uk) so you don't drive yourself crazy waiting.

I'm assuming you didn't hear back from the DMP, so you don't have any serious medical conditions. Which visa office is processing your application? Others using the same visa office are likely to have better data regarding the amount of time it takes after medicals are done. Also, have you ordered your GCMS/CAIPS notes? If not, you should, as they may give you more insight into what's actually going on.

Hi,

Thanks very much for the reply. My processing office is New Delhi. I have ordered my GCMS notes just last week. Thanks for the info as from your timeline I see atleast a delay of 4-5 months. This at least puts my mind at ease. Thanks once again.
