Hello,

I am new here I want to ask about eye exam in medical.

I am high myopic like -9.00 in left eye and -7.50 in right eye I can see 20/20 with my corrective glasses is it a cause of concern for me? Will I get failed in medicals for high myopia?

You should not fail the Medicals. Better keep your eye check results ready with you when you visit for Medical check up. Chances are that you will not even be asked about myopia.

CIC decides where your medical condition will be detrimental to Canada's health benefits program. Myopia hardly puts any financial burden on the health services.

Good luck!

They will check your eyes with your glasses/contacts on

So, you are good if you can read on whats written with your glasses on

Good luck

No I have -7 in both. It's not an ophthalmologist, there's no test like we do when we want to get a new pair of glasses. You keep your glasses on and read off of a board

I stood with my glasses to read the board. She didn't ask how many degrees I have. And can you imagine if people got rejected based on myopia in this time and age of eye strain? Stop stressing!!

I have lazy eye in one eye from birth and it has bare minimum eyesight. But my other eye is perfectly fine. How do they perform the test. Both eyes combined to read something or individually? Thank you!

yeah just look at the board of letters and read. and just the big rows. it's not an in-depth eye test

Your myopia should not be an issue. As part of the eye test, you should be able to see the letters they ask you to read with your contacts/glasses on. So long as you can read them with your contacts/glasses, it is not a problem.

When they fill up your eye test results, they simply note whether your vision is 20/20, 20/25 or 20/50 etc. They do not note what your eye prescription is. They will not note whether you're a -7.5 or -9 or whatever it is.

The punchline is "If you can see properly with your corrective glasses or contact lenses, you're good to go."

For the eye test, they'll first ask you to read the board with both eyes. Then they ask you to cover one eye and read it. Then they'll ask you to cover the other eye and read it. That's it. Nothing else is done as part of the eye test.

Hello guys
I appeared for medical test 2 days back. And was not able to read with my glasses on and doctor told me that glasses need an upgrade. My glasses were for distance. Earlier power was -1.75. Will this be a problem ?

How far is that board kept? Bcz it becomes difficult to read if it is more than 5-6 meters away.. Can you tell how far they keep that board..?

It’s approximately 20-25 feet.

it depends on where you're doing the test, it was like 4-5 meters. with glasses ON. if you can't see those with your glasses/contacts on, then that's an issue with your daily life regardless of cic
