I had a couple of question.

Just to review, I sent sponsorship application in May.
I just received Medical application to be completed.

Is this a good sign? After not heating from them?
My spouse hasnt received the open work permit, that was sent with the application.

Should I get a lawyer at this point?

Not hearing from them as in.....not receiving AOR?

Also, it’s pretty standard to receive the medical request 5-6 months after the application is recieved by CIC. In my opinion, a lawyer is just a waste of money and the application is pretty straightforward.

But about your OWP, I would call and check why you haven’t heard anything yet. Did you link your applications online?

You should have gotten the AOR within the first two months (have you and have you been able to link the application online) or so and the OWP three to four months since sending the application (not sure when in May you sent the app). It's standard to receive the medical request around the six month mark.

AOR is Acknowledgment of Receipt. It's an email they send you around 6-8 weeks after sending in the app that tells you your UCI and application number which you can then link online so you can follow the progress of the application online, see if they make any requests for additional documents, and this is also how you give them additional documents (by uploading them there.)

Since you've received the medical request, your application has obviously been going forward. Double check your email and see if you maybe missed the AOR. There have been cases where people just don't get them, though. I would definitely call if you don't find it in your email so you can link the application online.

The doctor will send the results directly to IRCC. I believe it’s now all done electronically. You don’t get confirmation as far as I’m aware, but the online status of your medical will keep you updated, provided you have linked your account.

Has no bearing on the application as everyone is requested to do it and it is not tied to possible rejection for other reasons.
