Hi guys!

My common-law partner had syphilis 3 years ago, he has done the treatment. But once you get Syphilis the FTA-ABS test that is used to detect syphilis will always show positive due to the antibodies. It's called the immunological scar.
So when we went for the medical exam, it showed positive and the consulate asks to re-do the exam.

Can Canada reject us based on that? He has done the treatment already and to get a proof he did it, he is undergoing the treatment again and we will submit the paper in the eAPR

Has someone any idea or went through something similar? please let me know, i'm really scared to be rejected

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
"Active Pulmonary Tuberculosis (TB) and untreated Syphilis are considered a danger to public health. If the foreign national has either or both of these conditions, they will likely be found inadmissible on the grounds of danger to public safety, unless the foreign national is treated according to Canadian standards. Although the Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is not considered a danger to public health, CIC is committed to public health risk mitigation, and provides foreign nationals with HIV with important information that can reduce the risk of transmission."

My understanding of this is that if his syphilis has been treated according to Canadian standards he may not be considered inadmissible.

Dear All, URGENT URGENT

I have a serious issue, I got an ITA and have all documents ready but in my meds the first syphilis test (Sensitive i think) was positive. They are doing the more specific test now. I didn't know that I had it but if the second test comes positive then I surely have it. I read online and this is completely curable with a set dose of penicillin for a couple of weeks. I wanted to know whether my chances of getting ahead with my case are totally jeopardized or if I get the proper treatment and don't let my doctor send my meds ahead to cic till I get this treatment and ask the doctor to to attach proof of my treatment along with my meds. I have to upload my application by the 14th. VERY WORRIED PLEASE GIVE ME SOME EDUCATED ANSWER, THANK YOU

Hello Dorian,

Even I have been tested positive for Syphilis during my medicals and then I had taken 3 doses of Pencillin as per the Physicians advise. Could you please guide me on how you have handled this with regard to post ITA application submission. I am going to submit my PR application in 1 or 2 days. Kindly advise on this please.

Many Thanks.
