Hi Friends,

Its a season for our medical examination all over the world.

Having a medical condition, i have searched a lot to understand Medical inadmissibility of Canada and found only few discussions are there in forum and also are restricted to one condition.

Suggest all folks to discuss your medical issues and your scenario.

Apart from the individual medical scenarios, i request all to post links and reference materials with respect to Medical inadmissibility Canada.

Especially, List of EDE and Non EDE conditions as i could not find one.

Thanks a lot for sharing! Good Luck to you all!!!!

An article reveals there are 450,000 immigration medicals annually. Of those only 2-3 percent requires medical surveillance and then just 0.3 per cent result in an inadmissibility finding.

Somewhere in the range of 13000 cases per year do lawyers become engaged in the realm of medical inadmissibility and Canadian immigration.

Excessive Demand threshold:

Threshold of $6,285 is usually multiplied by five (unless there is evidence that significant costs are likely to be incurred beyond that period, in which case the period is no more than 10 consecutive years). This results in the legislated threshold of $31,425 taking effect as of February 28, 2013.

Some medical conditions (there are individual exemptions):

Excessive Demand/ Risk to Public Health & Safety

1. HIV/ AIDS - If you are on an anti-retroviral medication, you are most likely considered to be medically inadmissible pursuant to section 38(1)c).

Excessive Demand
2. Chronic renal failure – very expensive - dialysis for end stage renal failure costs from $35,000 to $45,000 and a kidney transplant costs $35,000.

Risk to Public Health & Safety
3. TActive Pulmonary TuberculosisT - Active pulmonary tuberculosis will be assessed M4, inadmissible as a danger to public health, while TInactive Pulmonary TuberculosisT. Inactive
pulmonary tuberculosis may be generally profiled as M2 (conditionally admissible subject to public health surveillance).

Risk to Public Health & Safety
4. Untreated syphilis would render one inadmissible; treated syphilis is admissible but requires
medical surveillance.

What could cause some alerts and demand further exams ?

I have uric acid and colestherol. Is this a trigger to more investigation ?

In my understanding, it wont lead to further investigations.

Medicals done? if not, u need to have a master check up done before ur medicals. (Use the forms available in CIC website for self assessment and to show to ur doc)

Have a fair understanding on ur medical issues and how much it costs in canada per year for medications and doctor appointments.

Let me know if u have any further concern.

Thanks for sharing!

I am an applicant of FSW13. My family consists of my wife, son of 8+ years and a daughter of 9+ months.
I received medical request on 21.10.2014 and completed on 25.10.2014. My son is a case of Cerebral Palsy, he can walk with support but can not speak at all, his mental development is around 2 years, which I mentioned from the very beginning of my application. The panel physician then asked for an assessment by my son's neurologist. I submitted the assessment on 28.10.2014. On 05.11.2014, I was informed by the panel physician that I have to submit an up to date assessment of cerebral palsy by a clinical psychologist along with IQ test which is a requirement of CIC. I submitted that on 09.12.2014. till then there is no update.

In this situation, I seek your advice about what to do next.

There's really nothing you can do but wait. However given the severity of your son's condition I think you should certainly be expecting to receive a fairness letter from CIC indicating they plan to refuse your application due to your son's condition and providing you with an opportunity to respond to this letter and prove your son will not in fact be a burden to Canada's heath and social care systems. Once you receive this letter, you are given a limited amount of time to respond - so I would start collecting evidence now and doing research into how much your son's care in Canada will cost. You may also want to engage a good Canadian immigration lawyer to assist you. Search this site for the word 'fairness' and you should be able to find many threads on the subject of responding to fairness letters. Look for responses from the member computergeek - he has been through the process and provides excellent advice. Good luck.

I think you should be expecting a fairness letter and should start preparing your response to the fairness letter now.

I have applied for Study permit recently and did a medical examination upfront. I have hypertension problem, the creatinine test was also a bit higher than the threshold. My kidneys are fine because I go for a regular check ups. Plz could you tell me will I be required to have ultrasound or other tests. I hope this does not cause medical inadmissibility.
