They'll do a chest x-ray, take blood, a urine sample, eye exam (with a chart, not a machine), blood pressure, and general physical exam. That's what I remember having had done. Hopefully I didn't miss anything. Plus the doctor will likely ask you about your medical history.

Thanks, Anyway... what do you mean by general physical exam?
Basically they will check to see if you have any issues on your body (ie skin cancer, breast cancer etc) My husband had his ears, eyes and throat checked, his glands checked etc.

Don't know if what's true? The type of exam given? It may differ slightly from country to country, but I would expect the majority of it to be the same. The Canadian government wants to make sure you don't have any serious health problems or threats. I would assume they would at the very least check for signs of TB and do a blood test for HIV and other diseases easily identified that way.

My boyfriend has had dengue 3 times in the past and has anemia which occasionaly acts up. Could this pose a problem in passing the medical exam? He's perfectly healthy now and neither of those things are contagious.

Might be or might be not... well its better if you'll have pre medical exam... just like what I do, so you know if there's something wrong... and if there is... then he can have medication.....

I have a close friend who is Canadian and sponsored her husband. Her husband had an obvious thyroid problem and had lung issues and he was passed. So I honestly wouldn't worry too much. They are mostly looking for things that might be contagious.

My daughter had dengue fever, contracted from the Dominican Republic and her immune system has been seriously compromised, however I do not know whether you can detect it in her blood still!

It's a very serious infectious tropical disease, with no cure!

If she's had it, traces of it will probably show up in her blood.

As far as I can tell (through Wikipedia; I'm by no means a doctor!) Dengue Fever is transmitted by a certain type of (sub)tropical mosquito and by blood contact. It is serious and can cause bad health problems, however most people who had it recover without ungoing problems.

Has your daughter recovered yet? If yes, then I don't see a problem. Having had a viral disease does not make you medically inadmissible. Nor does having a weaker immune system.
