Medical exam

Hi

What exactly do they ask on the medical examination?
I have a few little things because of having a baby last year, slight prolapse and split abs, seeing a physio. Also a fatty liver where I get this months more tests for. I went to my GP to ask for a letter about it but they said they normally dont do that and it would cost money and take many weeks. As the examination needs to be done within 30 days and also I am away for 2 weeks soon, this would not work.
Not sure what to do now.
What happens if I just dont mention it? Or what if I do mention it without extra information from my gp? Maybe brush it off as minor?
This is giving me horrible stress.

Any advice welcome!

I would mention it so you don’t have any cause for misrepresentation. From what I know, the medical exam consists of blood, urine and x rays and a physical examination from the panel physician.

What exactly are you worried about? Not passing the medical? I don’t think any of what u listed would be cause for that. So don’t stress so much.

thanks, I dont see any questions asked about the liver in the forms, so maybe I can just get away with not mentioning it? although my ALT in blood test might be slightly elevated
I just dont want any extra costs mainly, or delays... if they want more info and I have to pay again for an appointment and maybe a private specialist as my regular gp cant help...

You are stressing for no reason. None of that is an issue for the medical. You don't need a letter from your GP. They wouldn't consider it anyways.

Exactly what I said. And it is better to mention it since it will show on the blood test. There will be no repercussions for the liver. Stop worrying.

Are you being sponsored by your spouse? If so, the only medical that will affect you is things like active TB (which they will give you time to cure it before you can land). Medical will not affect a spouse being eligible.

I am immigrating as a spouse. I had my medical exam in April 2018 and the physician did a full breast exam even though there is no history of cancer in my family.

Is this normal? As a spouse, it seems to me that I could be riddled with tumors and it shouldn’t matter. I felt really violated and creeped out. My GP thought it was really weird.

Once I land, I would like to file a complaint about the physician. Thoughts?

A breast exam is not part of the immigration medical. It's not uncommon to have this done regardless of family history by your family physician, but again, not part of immigration medical.

Thanks. That’s what I thought.

Chiming in to say that I didn't have a breast exam either, nor have I seen it say anywhere that it's part of the medical.

It's a general physical exam during which no underwear is removed (you have to pull up your shirt for the part where they touch your abdomen and listen to your heart and lungs, but the bra stays on), lung x-rays (remove all clothes above the waist, but you're given a gown to cover up), and a standard blood test.

Thank you. My lawyer said she’d never heard of this being done either. Once I’ve landed, I plan to file a complaint. The physician also cracked a bunch of anti-Canada jokes. Makes me angry all over again just thinking about it.

Sorry this happened to you. We had a great experience in Ottawa, so this kind of BS certainly isn't across the board.

Thanks. The really awful thing is that there is only one physician in the area who does these exams and I was within a week of the cutoff period so I felt like I had no choice but to just put up with it. Ugh.

At the same time, Canada should know because he certainly doesn’t refrlect well on the country.
