I was already getting worried the whole family will have to redo medicals if final decision is not taken on our case b4 the anniversary of our medical which will be in november. Pls friends hope am not getting everthing wrong.should i be happy that we will not redo our medicals. Our PCC was submited last year june.

I just wanted to keep this subject alive. I have recieved a letter from cic in London today informing they would request the reassassment and will get back with information in due course. Fingers crossed now.

so they already apply the bulletin....interesting :) i wonder how much the reassassment takes and if they let everyone know that they do ::) if there is a processing time for that too, i would just redo them, if it takes a few days than it's goooooood :)

from what understand from everything is that maybe the medical office will not give the green flag and extension to everyone, do correct me if i'm wrong; maybe it matters of various health or other geographical factors ::)

thanks for sharing ur opinions and experiences!! :)

Hopefully you'll be done before the 15 months are up :) Good luck!

Yes, it's good news! Upon request from the VO, the medical office reassess and see whether they have enough information to grant the extension or if they need specific tests first or whether a redo of the medical would be fastest, etc. The bulletin is pretty detailed in terms of options...

Thanks OhCanadiana, i should have read it more carefully ;) i hope giving the extension is just a matter of a few phonecalls and emails ;) anyway it's clear for me now that we won't stress ourselves with redoing the medicals (if we reach that close); we'll let them ask or not ask ;) hihihi one less thing to do

Just so I'm totally clear on this... basically a medical is valid for 15 months instead of 12? Given there is enough time to complete the rest of the process within the 15 months. But if not, another medical will need to be done, correct? :o sometimes I have a hard time wrapping my lil brain around these concepts. Ha!

This might be good news for me, but it still might be cutting it pretty close.. because you need to land before the medical validity expires, right?

No. Medical exams are still only valid for 12 months. However, if your application is only being held up because your medical exam has or is about to expire, there is now a process to issue a new medical certificate. They will only consider this option if your exam was done in the last 15 months and the new certificate would only be valid for an additional 12 months.

Officers decide on a case-by-case basis if they should request a new certificate. Some people may still have to re-do their medical exams.

This is great news!! The biggest thing I have been stressing over is the $500 we would lose to redo my husbands medical, since he got them done way too early. At least there's higher chances of being approved by March '13 than by November '12. My husband has been devising tactics to wheel-and-deal the DMP into cutting a deal on the price of another medical haha... something I hardly think would work ::)

thanks for your speedy reply oreidapennsyltucky.. I quickly deleted my post after I re-read the original post, which I understood the second time around. But you beat me to it. I guess I should exercise the rule: read twice, type once :D

No problem!

Hi everyone
Any good result from this new operational bulletin? I have requested a reassessment 11 days ago and i have yet to hear back from London VO so i hope it is not gonna take that long. Please share your thought and experience on this thread.

I received a medical extension without asking for one. It's great for me because I received my COPR last week and otherwise would have needed to land before this Wednesday, which really isn't enough time to actually move (though I could have landed and moved later). I think it only held back my file by a few weeks.

Ko for medical?
