Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
There's a new procedure that will allow medical validity to be extended if your application processing is completed within 15 months of the original medical exam and the only thing stopping your application from final approved and PPR is the expiration of your medical results (or ability to reasonably land within the initial year-long validity).

Officers will now be able to submit a request for an extension of the medical exam result validity (as long as they were done within the last 15 months) and they can extend them for an additional 12 months without the need for an additional medical exam. The details are on the CIC website.

Hopefully this saves folks time and expense of extra medical exams.

If they finish up security and background checks within the next 3 months you shouldn't need to redo your medical (the visa officer should be able to request extension for a whole year). That also will give you extra time to land in Canada :)

not sure, it does say effective June 1st, 2012

Cool!! I just hope the delay in getting the extension is not longer than actually doing a new medical check!

I guess this does not apply to appeal cases? My hubby's medical will expire in less than a month. I have ADR in a few days...

Not sure what your point is, Jamgirl. If you are referring to bilbol11's case - June 1st is only four working days away ;) And, if for some reason they reach out in the next four days requesting it (doubtful, since they'll have these instructions first thing Monday morning), bilbol11 can always send in a request for the extension quoting the new Bulletin.

That's what the instructions in the new Bulletin say 8)

Remember, it hinges on your security and background check being done within 15 months of your initial medical exam, though (if it's longer than that, all bets are off). And, also, if they have a reason to request additional exams during the reassessment they can. It wouldn't surprise me if for high risk areas - areas they do medical exams for temporary resident visas also (e.g., high TB incidence areas) - they end up requesting an additional x-ray or something to confirm the validity of the old tests. Only time will tell.

We aren't expecting to get the visa later than one year from the medical but I think this makes a lot of sense and will make processing faster and smoother for many.

So if the VO gets an extension for 12 months, then the date you must land would be 12 months from the original 1 year anniversary date of the medical check, right?

Thanks,
FS

But they are also mentioning that the medicals must have been done in the last 15 months. I wonder if this means that even if it has expired up to three months, they can still ask for extension, if it's within the 15-month window?

Thanks!
