I was thinking maybe I would go for my medical exam as soon as my AOR was received. Would anyone advise AGAINST doing this? Is there any reason why I shouldn't do this? I believe correct me if I'm wrong that once I have my Applicant number thats all the medical examiner needs for the forms to submit to Ottawa.

My experience is that a DMP will not complete your application until you get the forms from the VO. That's because the IMM 1017 forms that a DMP has on hand are for family class (excessive demand exempt) and not economic classes. Since the IMM 1017 has a unique serial number on it, you need to wait until they send the form (or copy of the form more likely) to you.

You may receive the AOR and medical request at the same time, in which case you can go ahead with your plans. If you only get the AOR, you should consider whether if you do medicals now you will be able to land within 1 year of that date? If not, you may have to redo medicals. Some people have had their medicals extended for an additional year(mine was) but I have no idea what the criteria is.

I'm already here working on work visa. I almost wonder if I do medical and send with application if maybe I get lucky and processing time is faster? I'd love to be processed by this time nex year.

Hello mates,

I came to Canada on student visa - and had to complete my medical exam before I got the study permit.

Its been 3 years now, i have been living in Canada. I have applied for CEC recently. Will they again ask for medical?

cheers,

IS

Medicals are good for only 1 year. After that you have to do them again. And also if you are applying for a Visa other than the one you did the Medicals for.

Could anyone else please comment of this issue?
I am currently waiting for the medicals to be requested by CIC, but my wife and I are trying to conceive our second baby, and didn't want her pregnancy to delay the process later when the medicals are requested.

If you had to do medicals to get your work permit and it's not been more than a year, you may want to hold off on doing medicals now. I don't think doing it in advance will necessarily speed up processing times but it you may find that things move faster when they request medicals and you already have results in the database.
