Medical Exam from a designated physician for EE

Hey guys, Hope y'all having a great day. So i'll get straight to the point. I am currently residing in Boston, Massachusetts and have my own medical insurance. But I have been told to go to a designated doc for my immigration medical. I called this doc (recommended by the CIC) and he's charging $400 to do the medical report that includes the physical along with the chest radio and blood work. My family physician said that he can perform all the tests ( since I'm already due for a physical) like blood work and chest X-Ray, and I can take those reports to this CIC recommended physician and they can just do the processing.

I called the doc's clinic and told her about what I intend to do. Right after that, her assistant started making excuses that it' won't go through the immigration or they'll not be happy about it. After much pushing, the receptionist told me that the doc won't say what the processing fee is, but she'll still charge close to $400.

So basically at this point, I am stuck with this con physician who really wants to extract the money in the name of doing some pretty regular stuff. My insurance covers all the tests that I'm already due for, without having to pay any deductible or co pay.

Kindly please advise what's a reasonable route to take..

little clarification, the processing fee is the application processing fee minus the fee for recommended tests.

I'm in the US as well and can sympathize with the 'con-artist' physicians CIC has deemed suitable. However, CIC is very clear that you have to use their doctors, and those doctors/labs have to perform the test. The person who reads the xrays, blood work, etc., has to sign off on the document that they were the ones conducting the tests, that they verified your identity and confirm it was you who completed the tests. If you use the tests your doctors run, then turn around and submit it to the CIC doctor, they can't prove that *you* were the one who completed the tests.

I paid $475 for a CIC-approved doctor when like you, my insurance would have covered the same tests for my regular doctor. Sadly, it's the price of immigration.

The CIC approved physician in London is charging £300 which is just as bad as what you have to pay. My wife is accompanying me so that's £600.

I can feel the pain, I also did mine in Knightsbridge Doctors which for me as an engineer this is a one month's saving!

But like mgnlky said "it's the price of immigration"

Thank you all. Yes I believe in the end, we'll have to bear the cost. I guess it'll be even worse for those who got dependents!
