Hello
My wife lives in India, and I have to file papers to sponsor her, I was just wondering if i have to get her medical exam done before and attach that with the case,
In that case, do we need file number of our case to get medical done? But i havent sponsored yet , so dont have any file number,
Can anyone explain process in bit detail

Yes, she will need to get her medicals done to send in with the initial application, there is lists of approved doctors for each country, here is a link for doctors in India: http://www.cic.gc.ca/dmp-md/medicalinfo.aspx?CountryID=1995&CountryName=India

You will need to have 4 passport sized pictures (this is in addition to the 8 you will need for the application).

Here is also a link for the spousal sponsorship specifically for India, the appendix gives you instructions for the medical and the form that you will need to bring them along with your pictures. The medical will be linked with your file once you are approved for sponsorship and it has been transfered to your VO (Visa office).

Hope that helps and good luck ! :)

Thanks for those details,
Also she has a visitor visa and looking forward to come to Canada soon,
Now is it possible that she gets her medical done before coming to canada? Do the medical probationer needs any file number or something or she fills out these forms , whats the process? thanks again

No she does not need any file number or anything else, just use the form that is provided and bring your 4 pictures to the exam. After you do the exam they will give you a green slip of paper, this is what you submit with your application (you do not get the actual results of the exam). The visa office will then match up the slip with the medical info on file while they are processing your application.

Just keep in mind that the medical is only valid for one year, so try to do it just before submitting your application. She can do it before she leaves or even when she is here visiting, check costs and see where it is cheaper, there is no set rate for the medical.

Hi everyone,

First of all best of luck to everyone who are applying/applied for spousal visa.

I got a question, my wife is pregnant can she still go for the Medical exam?

Please advise.

Thanks & regards.

I dont know alot about that but from what I have read she will still need to do the medical exams they will just delay her x-rays, I am not positive about this though. I would call one of the required physicans for your area and confirm.
