My mother intends to visit Canada for 6 months; however, she has been asked to get her immigration medical exam done. Is it normal for Immigration Canada to ask a visitor to get a medical exam when period of stay is 6 months?

Depends on the person, the part of the world they are from, their age, length of stay, etc. When it comes to seniors it is especially important to get a medical so it is clear that they won’t put additional stress on the healthcare system.
