Hi folks,

I was just on the phone to the Lebanese embassy in Ottawa as I am getting married in Lebanon in the new year. I was told that I needed a medical exam here to be able to marry. However, the embassy representative did not state what type of exam I needed to ask for aside from saying I needed "everything"... any ideas what I need to ask for?! ;D

Thanks

A lot of countries in the middle east require a medical exams for marriages. Usually all they would check for is for any STDs, in some specific countries genetic problems (UAE), and for a female 100% of the times they would be checking if one is pregnant (sometimes via an xray or blood work), as one cannot be married when pregnant in a muslim country.

Hi Ben! It's Anya, again!

When Habib and I got married in Syria, we also needed medial exams. They have special clinics here just for doing pre-marital exams. They take your blood, and make sure you don't have whatever - then you go the AIDS clinic where they do another test (it takes a day). Once all that's done, you're good to go.

Assuming it's the same in Lebanon, it takes a couple days to a week max. to get all the results back.
