Medical Exam Confusion for spousal sponsorship

Ok

Apparently the medical exam requirements have changed. There is no longer an appendix C or medical form you need to bring to the physican office. Some people in the forms are saying that you will be contacted by the embassy to come in for the exam and you don't have to go prior to your application processes.

Others are saying that you need to have to walk in yourself with an appointment and get the medical exam.

Can somebody in detail explain what the process is exactly and does the person need to bring in forms to the medical center

On the website it says the following:

There are two ways you can have an immigration medical exam, depending on your immigration category

Wait for instructions once you have submitted your application
Undergo your exam before you submit your application (Only for certain Family Class applicants)

Does this mean my wife has the option to wait for instructions?? Because the medical examination center she is going is telling her you cant walk in. They will only perform the medical if they are instructed too

For spousal sponsorship, the exam has to be done before.

So - explain to the doctor that it is spousal category ( not skilled worker etc.) and that the exam needs to be done in advance. You don't need to bring forms anymore, but you might need to bring pictures.

Once the medicals are done, your wife will be given a form to include with the application, so they can match the results to her file.

If your doctor doesn't want to do it - then call another doctor in the same area.
Good luck,
Sweden

you dont need to bring any form to undergo medical examination , however the medical center might ask you some requirements. likewise your wife has no option to wait for instruction.medical examination before submission of application is mandatory .the medical center will issue proof of medical examinaton. such proof must be incorporated in your application. medical examination is a prerequisite, a condition sine qua non in your application otherwise they would return your application.

Your wife needs to tell the medical examination centre that she is applying under Family Class and she has to do the exam in advance. She has no file number and, after the exam, they will have to give her either form IMM 1017 - Medical Report Section A, or form IMM 1017B: Upfront Medical Report: Client Biodata and Summary.

If you don't include that medical form in the file, it will be returned as incomplete, so I wouldn't recommend doing it.

There's no need for the Appendix C, but there probably still is for photos and IDs.

Very soon.
Your wife definitely needs to do the medical exam prior to submitting the application. The medical center needs to be informed that this is a requirement under the Family Class. Make sure that the medical center is on the list of panel doctors (if it is then they should know that Family Class applicants must have the medical exam upfront).

What happens after the exam depends on which system the panel doctor is using.

What Betina says is not quite accurate.
Some doctors are already using the new eMedical system which does away with paper forms. It's a good idea to check which system your panel doctor is using as eMedicals don't require you to take photos with you.

Once your medical exam has been completed, the doctor will give you a document confirming that you underwent a medical exam. You must include a copy of that document with your application.

If the doctor works with the eMedical electronic system:
they will give you an up-front medical notification printout.

If the doctor works with a paper system:
they will give you a copy of the IMM 1017B Upfront Medical Report form.

You must attach that form to your application before you submit it to the visa office.

That was exactly what we were saying: that his wife needs to contact the medical examination center, tell them she's applying under Family Class. That's when they tell you what you have to bring with you (forms, ids, photos etc.). But even if the Appendix C is out of the picture, they MAY still be asking for photos. May. As in "not always". As in "contact your medical examination centre, tell them you're applying under..................". Is it clearer now?

You can get the medicals done anywhere in the world, as long as they are done by a panel physician.

Note that Buffalo closed in 2011, so your application would not go through Buffalo. US applicants are processed in Ottawa. CIC does have the final say though, so they may send your application to Cuba if they want to.

CIC gets the medical results only when they request them. The panel doctor does not send the test results to CIC, but to a Regional Medical Office, that analyses them and then delivers the assessment to CIC, only upon request.

Milesaway,
I'm a cuban citizen but I'm applying from USA not CUBA because I dont live there anymore so,CIC has to send my application where I tell them I need to be processed or ''no preference'' but certainly NOT in cuba since I dont live there.

Now,since buffalo closed,,where the hell will my application be processed? in Ottawa? and my interview will be where then? because I read that the VO in new york took all the processes that were gonna be done in buffalo so,,please clarify this for me :)

It really is up to CIC where they choose to send your application. If they choose to send it to Cuba, you really can't do much about it. However, your application likely will be sent to Ottawa. You might not require an interview, but if you do, the application will then be forwarded to either NY or LA and they will schedule your interview.
