Does CIC still request the medical exam and police certificate when they need it? My husband requested his certificate and we were going to forward it when it finally arrived and we wanted to wait until the exam was requested to get it since it expires after six months bUT both are listed on the document checklists.

I have everything else prepped to be mailed out except for those two.

Thanks

Your post dated 24 March indicates that you were going to apply inland, which seems to be inconsistent with the facts stated in your present post: if your are applying inland you are given the choice either to undergo an upfront medical or to wait until CIC asks for the medical. Sounds as if you might have changed your mind and are applying outland. In that event the medical is required upfront and if you do not take it upfront your application might be returned to you. Some outland applicants get away with not undergoing an upfront medical but the majority view on this forum is that that would be unwise. I am unsure about the police certificate: your husband is American and as I understand it is at present still in the USA; the practice in that event seems to differ from the norm, which requires the police certificate to be enclosed with the application. Wait until someone more knowledgable than I about that issue responds to your query. But first things first: tell us whether you are applying inland or outland. The rules are different!

Hi, sorry,

We were going to apply inland but after the last post and our own research and discussions we decided to go with the Outland application.

As a note, you don't need to redo your medical until after a minimum of 12 months, and then it's possible to get an extension in some cases.

Normally the police clearance certificate is to be included in the the complete application that is submitted to Mississauga.
The PCC is only good for 90 days from the date specified on the certificate and CIC must receive it with in that time frame.

You could check your country specific instructions to be sure.

Chris.
